Does a fit Moose make us at least Playoff contenders?

I know that Moose isn’t perfect, far from it.

But with what we have payed for him against McBurnie and Brewster it’s a fantastic bit of business comparatively speaking.

I feel like with Moose on the pitch we have a goal in us, I can’t say the same with any other option we have, aside from Billy (Who shouldn’t be relied upon as our main goal threat)!!!

Need those three points today Bladesmen.

Happy Sunday all. UTB 👊🏻

If we can be in touching distance of playoffs by January in which we can bring in some midfielders then i think we could get into the playoff but signings need to be made early and we can’t be as inconsistent as we currently are

Not with the back four and middle 2 we currently have.

Osborn MGW Ndiaye Sharp Mousset, good attack.

Fleck Norwood would be ok if we trying to get promotion from League One

Defence is just a shambles.

One swallow doesn't make a summer. Pretty sure half this forum had him down as a world beater after a cup game at the start of the season and then he injured himself. If he plays like that for 10 games, then maybe, but he was given so much space. The heavy tough on the first actually worked in his favour. He showed an absolute desire to protect and get to the ball which I've not seen very often. We'll see.

I'm still in the camp of believing the defence won't be bad if they get someone in front of them to actually help out. The absolute most important change for us in January has to be a tough midfielder to replace Fleck.

Well it is early days but I think everyone can see that with him in the team we look like a team with attacking prowess & much more likely to score goals.
I don't know what has gone on with him during his time here but a Moose who can give us 60 minutes a game should be enough to change our fortunes. Of course if he could give us 90 mins game after game after game he wouldn't be here anyway.

Well despite all the last minute goals conceded, injuries, late transfer dealings, fragile mentality from year prior, ref against Millwall etc. this team is only 3 points out of 5th..

Yeah possibly, but I feel like even Egan who had a decent game today makes more errors than can just be blamed on others.

We're definitely soft as shit in front of defence though, Norwood and Fleck wouldn't be able to rough up the Under 12s. I'd be starting Guedioura short term, at least he's a shithouse.

What do you class as touching distance as we are 3 points off a playoff place now ? :D

Next 10 places above us are only covered by 3 points. This is the time we need to go on a run with being so close (in points) to so many teams.
Will it happen ? Depends on how fit Moose can be and how long he lasts.

The way the season's played out so far there are 3 play off places up for grabs for 3 inconsistent sides who may well be streets behind the top 3 but manage to put together a decent run at some point during the season. We are inconsistent, we're streets behind the top 3, but we're also capable of putting together a decent run at some point. Problem is we're competing with about 12 or more other sides of similar mediocrity to us. It wouldn't surprise me if in the table from Preston upwards made the playoffs this season.

The answer for me to the OP is 100% yes.

it has to be coupled with perhaps a combination of players behind him ie: 2 x No 10's.

Pace destroys any team as he has done to Barnsley today.

Trouble is: he simply won't stay fit to play lets say 25 of the next 30 games.

His fitness and application to the cause is my main concern.
His ability is there for us all to see when he is actually fit and can be arsed.

I’m going to stick my neck out and say that I’m happy enough in this league with Egan-Davies- George and for the most part Enda.

The biggest thing that needs to change is the link up of Fleck and Norwood in the middle. They aren’t doing enough and are costing us more than any other area (if we have someone like Moose scoring regularly).

With MGW and Ndaiye we have two flair players whi will also put a shift in to win the ball back.

January transfer window is a big one. I’m really hoping that Slav had some targets in mind to push things forward and that the owners will back him.

We are still in the game at this point.

Yes, our hapless midfield offers absolutely no protection whatsoever to our sometimes beleaguered defence.

We’re 7th in the table on goals scored and 20th on goals conceded. Unless we sort out our defending can’t see us finishing much higher than we are now.

My dream is that Liverpool come in and offer £40,000,000, for him, so we get our money back, plus.
He would be ideal for one of the top clubs, play magic for half a game in about 10 games a season for loads of money.
Right up his street

According to some we're shit and miles away from a play off team.

Yet with less than a third of the season gone we're 3 points off a play off place.

With the players getting more to grips with the manager's style and the chance to strengthen in January, I don't share the doom and gloom of some.

Well we are. 3 points of the Play Offs and our form since MGW et all joined, makes us top 6. So add a fit Mousse to that for the rest of the season and the case we can make the POffs with this squad....is far stronger than making the idea, that Mousse might actually be fit for the seaso....

We are play off contenders purely down to how poor the rest of the league is. We’re only 3 points off and we’ve been poor for majority of games.

If we could somehow sort ourselves out defensively, top 6 is easily getable
