No game when I was born. The closest was Carlisle at home in front of 8,945, we drew 0-0

I'm the same Snowman. June 1955 birthdate. I've worked it back 9 months. On September 18th 1954 the Blades beat our neighbours from S6 1-0 at BDTBL.

I can quite understand now after all these years why Born a Blade was conceived.

DOH!!!!. Yes, should have thought of that. Be back to you in a few mins when I have worked it out!

We were winning at half-time 1-0.
Bill Toner and Derek Hawksworth got our goals.

Team was Burgin, Coldwell, Ridge, Shaw(J), Johnson, Rawdon, Ringstead, Wragg, Toner, Brook and Hawksworth

Attendance was 33,524.

Bloodyhell apparently yes we did. April 12th 1986. Blades 2-0 Oldham.

This is from 11v11.com, which provides no other information. Can any older members enlighten me as to our team/scorers etc.

Also, cracking thread. I'd never even thought to look if there was a match on the day I was born!

But you found your dad at a petrol station forecourt if I recall correctly.

Nah that was Quiffy, he was with his Dad. They met Beattie and Quiffy's Dad heard directly from Beattie that we was returning. BP forecourt: transfer central.

Hadnt heard of "Wright" so I looked up. It was supposed to be Peter Wragg!

One change to the line up as Hagan didnt play. Roy Ridge, making his debut, stepped in to play at left back. He played in 9 league matches that season but in the next 10 years he played in only two more league matches!

The team was
Burgin
Coldwell
Ridge
J. Shaw
Johnson
Rawson
Ringstead
Wragg
Toner
Brook
Hawksworth

I'm a post season baby. The nearest result was a 2-2 draw at Huddersfield 3 days after the Bradford fire.

Think I might have been at that game. Think the official crowd was about 4,000. I travelled over from Manchester. Other than the result can't remember a thing about the game other than the fighting on the way back into the town centre. I would have been 31 at the time, twice your age, old twat that I am

Mine was last week in 1962 ,so rather than Las Vegas most of the squad were probably in Mablethorpe , Filey or Millhouses Park.

On May 27th the Blades beat FC Saarbrucken (West Germany) by 2-0 at Soldiers Field in Chicago. On May 30th they beat Edmonton City 7-0. They played 10 matches in North America between May 12th and June 9th 1962

I was sandwiched between a 1-0 victory at Wolves away and a 2-0 victory at home to Forest.

We finished 5th in the old first division, one place above Wednesday.

The season - 1961-62.

We used to be a top top side and can be again.

Nope born in June so no Football and 1975 so no world cup either, however my daughter was born in the morning the day after this match in 2009

18 September 2009 Sheffield United 3–2 Sheffield Wednesday @ Bramall Lane

Yes...5th Dec 1953....Man u 2 v Blades 2. Anyone get the programme pic or any match stats please?

We share a Birthday! Mine was a few years later mind, the match a home draw with Blackburn. My Dad was, naturally, at the game . After all I was nearly 14 hours old by then.

We played the day before I was born on the 27th September1983.

Sheffield Utd 2 Bradford 0

Division 3.

So who were the scorers?

Apparently so, It was a division three match & we beat Bristol City 3-0 at home, 11k attendance.

The day I was born, a Saturday no less, a Utd XI played a friendly v Port Vale. Looking at the complete record book it was predominantly a 2nd string XI that won 5-1 with the game seemingly played at the Lane. The first team had played the night before in the County Cup 2-2 v Barnsley at Oakwell. Not had that many Saturday games fall on my birthday since as it lands on the traditional FA Cup 4th round weekend. First competitive game to land on my birthday would be FA Cup rd 4 v Derby in 1986 when I was 17!
