Got mine today, thank you. Saw the video you posted on Twitter of you packing them and it looked like you were putting stickers or something inside the covers of them? Was that only for the first few that ordered?

Received mine yesterday. Excellent stuff.

Going to recite the Lord’s (Coutts’) Prayer, before each meal, henceforth.

Mine arrived today... cheers to all involved in getting it published :D...any chance it’ll be a regular publication?

By 'regular' do you mean more regular than yearly? Or that it will continue next year?

We're going to publish a 2019 edition (with a year to have a crack at it rather than four months) and we have some other 'bits' in the pipeline. But I think yearly is just about right in terms of sustainability/interest.

Mine arrived today. It's bloody lovely.

Thanks mate.

Snitch approves.

Favourite post.

The stickers were part of the original Kickstarter 'Rambler reward.' We did chuck any spares in the new orders as they arrived but these were only very limited stock. Sorry if you missed out - we may look at stickers again in the future.

Amen brother.

Got mine yesterday, thanks Steve Mackan. I was only planning on reading the first few pages yesterday after work but I loved it. Nearly finished it in one sitting! :D Feels great to know I helped fund such a fantastic publication.

I seem to recall from the Kickstarter campaign you had said nay profit would be put back into making next years annual. Whilst this is a great idea, as a contributor to that campaign, I certainly wouldn’t mind at all if you and the writers & artists have made enough to get some form of payment. You guys all certainly deserve it. (In summary: weeeerzzz muneh gone?! ;))

Skim read and it's excellent. Will pore over every sentence at my leisure with coffee over the next few days.

Very impressed Stevo.

Thanks. It's an interesting point you make about the money. Truthfully, we haven't thought as far what happens if we actually sell them all. We hoped to make enough to pay for the 2019 edition, it's looking like we'll do that.

We weren't (and at the minute still aren't) able to pay advances for the contributions. But that's what we'd like to do next time around. Even if it's something small. The only problem with that is, perhaps, it places more of a burden on me to say 'no' to people and I don't want to do that.

The whole idea was to publish writing by people who may not have been published before. It's a tricky balance and one we need to think about.

<<Just to emphasize; we (me and the designer) are not taking anything out of the pot, other than a couple of copies for friends and family.>>

Thanks for clearing things up regarding the money. I hope my post didn’t come across as me questioning the financials of the whole thing, but more I believe whoever has contributed should be allowed if possible to receive some form of payment for their efforts. That said, I also understand how this could muddy the waters so to speak.

Fingers crossed all the copies will sell to help pay for the 2019 edition :) For what it’s worth, next year I’d happily pay more. I really didn’t know what to expect when I donated but I’m hugely impressed. I can’t imagine it was easy to go from the idea of doing the annual to actually getting it into printing. It’s definitely worth a few quid more in my eyes.

Thanks again!

My son got his copy delivered as part of his Bday present from me. Says it's fantastic. Cheers Dem Blades.

I'm going to take a slightly different tack. Get writing people....
I was asked to contribute a piece. (I write a Beer, Football & Cricket Blog with knocking on for 700 posts). I was a little wary. Steve Mackan own Blog didn't really "fit my profile". I asked a few questions. And, thought fuck it - why not. I fully enjoyed writing the individual piece. I'm pleased with the result. But, the thing that has really surprised me is .... man .... my creative & collaborative juices are flowing. I've linked other people I know to contribute next time around. Got loads of other people I believe "have a story in 'em" to poke. My list of ideas for 2019 would fill the 100 pages, not the items, the fucking list itself. Spoofs, poems, serialisations - I'm overflowing - feels weird. I'm evangelical. Please. Please. Please. Think of having a go yourself. That shit you talk about - you know - get it written.

You can autograph mine, very interesting article, Belfast is on my to do list, even more so now I know about the Blades Social Club.
Mate - see my post above - your mob & the CBF - turning up at Seattle Mariners Baseball on the same day, without even knowing each other were in the country - there's a story to tell, right there....

Have a word with Furphy, he’s got the Goodson cartoons I believe. I don’t know if they’re still relevant but might be of interest to the older lot like me.

Not at all. As you say, moving from 'idea' to 'finished article' in the space of 3/4 months has meant that any real planning, structure etc, has been on hold. The 10 months we'll have for next year's edition will mean a few more bells and whistles, a payment structure for contributors (and a few more sodding proofreaders!).

My son got his copy delivered as part of his Bday present from me. Says it's fantastic. Cheers Dem Blades.

Great stuff, I'm chuffed.

I’m married to a proofreader. I nodded too.

*Does your S.O fancy lending their eyes to next year's edition.

Our door for submissions is wide open. The whole 'thing' is to encourage people to write about the Blades.
We're not picky about genre. There are scripts, Sci-Fi and hymns in the bloody book...so please, as Phil enthusiastically puts forward below, get yourselves involved.

Read a bit of it at half time, it's quite good, would recommend picking up a copy if you didn't pre order

Glad to experience that trademark humour (that makes your blog so entertaining) in person.

Am I okay to cut and paste some of your kind words for a bit of a promo exercise?

Have just ordered one, I will feedback in summer 2019 when I actually get to read it as I've posted to my dad's address, if he comes over I've told him to bring it, if not I'll have to wait!

It's fine ta, my old man can read it and then he'll hopefully be out here either before Christmas or in the New Year so he'll bring it then. They normally bring a case full of shit for the kids so may as well bring something decent for me as well while they're at it.

If you need a review written, only happy to oblige
