Dele Ali!

Being over 60 I am coming to terms that I will probably never be a professional footballer. But I do think if ever I had been given the opportunity I would have done it for nothing, especially if had been with United. If in his career he has earned around £50m he should just join a club and play for nothing.

He comes top of this list, at the 25 minute mark if you want to skip the previous 6 footballers.
Wasn't aware of the Jake Livermore situation and why his career fell of the cliff, it's mention in the Dele Alli part.
Aaron Ramsdale's career is the starting point of the video.

For the ones suggesting he's a waster who's thrown his career away etc. I would urge you to watch this.

You never know what's going on behind closed doors.

No one on this thread has suggested he's a waster etc

In fact there's been a good show of understanding and sympathy for his struggles .

Don't have to go that far back in time to see people saying they'd rather have Gary Glitter in midfield.

Couldn't find anything on this thread , perhaps in the past maybe . I did check

Think people are now more aware of what he's been through and thankfully less judgemental.
Yes, they are. He's really got a sad story. Had we not gotten O'Hare, I'd have taken a shot on him.

Think he'd be good at Bristol City or somewhere kind of mediocre where his star can shine.

Agree but isn't this mainly an advert to advertise the harms of mental health, as being a footballer is mentally tough, especially if you take notice of media and social media. It's also an advert to persuade clubs to give him a contract to get him back in the game.

He's been at the top of the game....probably took it for granted then fell off a cliff.....anyone, even with no mental health issues would find that incredibly tough to handle. Makes me wonder what role his agent had in all this, aren't they paid to help their clients?
Also he had all the money to get professional help where as normal people with these problems have no chance.

Agree he's not a waster....just an example of someone working their way to the very top, under loads of pressure, then losing form and down spiralling.
He needs to get back to basics in the Championship or league 1 and rebuild his reputation, hope it works out.
We have a very strong midfield so as already mentioned he'd not get a game at United.

We love a Ravel Morrison or Jack Rodwell redemption story, usually without the redemption! 😂
The big difference is that Ravel Morrison and Jack Rodwell were players who had potential and were expected to do better but didn't. Dele Ali certainly fulfilled his potential but was derailed through off field problems, largely with his mental health.

No. It's an interview where he opened up about the abuse he suffered as a child and how it impacted his adult life.

It shows how he was able to overcome it because it didn't stop him reaching the top in football becoming a massive success being one of the best midfielders in the Premier league and playing for England?

He just needs to find that strength again, however once you've had massive fame, success experiencing adoration and lost it
....then even for mentally strong people it's so difficult to come to terms with it.

He's out of contract so you would think a Championship club would take a chance on him.....he'd need to accept a low wage of course.

It simply doesn't work like that.

Think we missed a trick with him, should have invited him to train with us over the international break, see where his game is, let the gaffer and staff see where his head is

We probably never had a chance with him, if he goes back to Everton, he'll be in the prem and on a shed load more than we can offer him. Also not sure it would have been the best idea to bring a player like Dele Ali in when we're rebuilding and trying to get a whole new squad to learn a new system and to play alongside eachother, would have been too much of a distraction imo

If you did it for nothing you wouldn't be a professional footballer you would be an amateur

Available on a free.

Worth a trial in my opinion and if fit a £5k play as you play deal until the end of the season if he's up for that.

(Edit: whilst offering minimum wage as a regular salary)

Cesc Fabregas, head coach of Como, has said Dele could train with them after Christmas.

In a message on Instagram, Dele thanked his former club, saying that "2025 may set me on a new path with some exciting opportunities

I still love the idea of a top class player joining us in a traditionally "prime" age... But fitness would obviously be a gamble we can't afford under the current owner.

You want the Dele that got him an England call up not the one you'll get though. Not sure if a move to Sheffield United is the motivation, he obviously lacks, to get his career back on track. Not sure if there is any club can fet this generational talent back to his best. But, if he wants to do the graft and get close , good luck to him, we all love a comeback story.

What's Como got that Sheffield hasn't? 🤔

Yep, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He definitely screams Wilder signing. I wouldn't be surprised tbh.
