At the moment the current arrangement works for all parties concerned.
Yes each season we are paying a loan fee to MUFC and we are in away developing the lad on their behalf. However it works for us too in that we get the lads services, he early cares about the club and has the right attitude, and we has newbies to the Prem party get to spend the money it would potentially take to get him permanent, on other players. For example, would the three lads who have just signed be here now, if we had spent that money on Hendo? Probably not.
So at the moment borrowing him makes complete sense. I wouldn't be against it next season either as we have a lot of expenditure to commit to in the next 12 months. Buying of club assets from McCabes companies, trying to up grade training facilities and potentially buying a new site, bringing me contracts up to Premier League standard for existing players, and then probably further investment in the team.
There's a lot of money there that we as a club need to find. At the moment, even if Hendo was happy to sign for us and MUFC were willing to do business at a reasonable price, we probably just cannot afford him.
Get him next season on loan again, then see how things are placed in the summer of 2021. Hopefully we will be a lot better place to bring him in permanently if the stars align.
