Rearing it's head again

Sunday rag reporting Everton favs to sign him

Only going to get worse cos this lad is the real deal imo

fk off Jan window

Everton coming under massive pressure from their fans. Given their spend over the summer they're underachieving, so it won't be a surprise to receive an offer for Brooks. I hope Wilder draws a line in the sand and says he won't allow Brooks to leave. We have found our Diego, he was here all along, 'cept this one now plays for Wales. He's in the right place for the moment. Wilder and Knill will measure his development and know when to blood Brooks. With each appearance on the pitch he reveals his capacity to compete and blossom.

If not now, then it won't be long before we have a player worth between £12-18 million, and that could soon look like a conservative estimate!

The one thing in all of this is whether Brooks decides to bide his time and that he's best served by staying here for the immediate future? Stranger things have happened, and if we have the young man for the next few years then we'll at least be able to enjoy his development, and by that time we may well find that we're playing in the Premiership.

I think this will be an acid test of our new found resolve in the market.

Will we buckle and sell for peanuts, as we always seem to have done, or dig in and demand at least 8 figures ?

Time will tell.

UTB

Been thinking about this

Think there could be a promise made that he can leave if a good offer comes.. seems to have signed a contract with no fuss thankfully and Wilder seemed very confident he wasn't going anywhere last window.
Basing this on nothing at all just a feeling. Everton are a problem in the way the old why go to be a reserve player falls down due to them playing DCL.

If we sold Brooks for a good figure I wouldn't be angry,I'm ok with whatever CW is ok with. I think it could depend on where we are in Jan.if the funds will be made available I can see CW being tempted to cash in

Seriously though, how much is the lad worth? ??
I hope he's here for the season and beyond but doubt it unfortunately.
Our only way of keeping him beyond the season is if we get promoted.
Gotta be worth 8-12 million? ??compared to some of the trash out there.

Brooks could be worth 20 million, but how would selling him for that amount benefit us we would not be able to spend it,we have a transfer and wage structure,do we rip it up and start buying players for 5 milliion. The only way we will ever see a 20 million £ player in red and white stripes is to keep hold of him.

Hang on a minute. IF Everton are under pressure to get results, why would they turn to a kid who hasn't proved himself in our team yet?

It's paper talk.

But we love getting our knickers in a twist, don't we?

That's better, let's take a deep breath before we sell the family cutlery.

Everton's immediate woes won't be cured by a young, untested player. As good as Brooks is, as huge as his potential might be, Everton haven't replaced their main goal threat, so their priorities lay elsewhere. They've bought well when it comes to midfield players who can offer creative threat, but they might have been better advised to look at replacing Lukaku. I would hope that those in the know at Everton will be doing their best to find a player capable of delivering goals, so I'd hope we're not going to be chasing our tail over rumours and speculation.

I think people are underestimating the new Everton philosophy. They are stock piling kids so they can sell on. They are miles behind Chelsea in regards to their academy so have to pick up kids from lower leagues or abroad. Put them in the shop window and sell to clubs who need to have a certain amount of u21s in their 25 man squads.

Saying all that, I think by January Brooks will be too expensive for them to gamble on, and I doubt Brooks would go. Why, because he's already failed at Man City and he knows hes better than that.

Set a figure of £20m and put them off and if we have to accept £15m then at least we have some money around to replace him and further improve the squad
I suppose if you're looking for a big, bustling Lukaku replacement, the man to go for is David Brooks if you want to make the fans happy (?????????????????)

They wouldn't say no to 1.5 million let alone 15 million get real
Surely it depends where we are in December. If we are in the playoff places or just outside would the lure of all that Premiership cash not persuade the Prince and the great King Kev to hang onto our assets for another 6 months to see where we go.
And lets face it, Everton currently need a high profile signing for the fans and a chauffeur for the new boy.

Charlton actually said yes to £11m for Lookman and from Everton as well.

Yes, and I wouldn't mind so much if we said yes to £11 million instead of our standard £1 million and the "once they've had their heads turned bolox"

Can understand the departures of players in last couple of years, but can`t see any reason to let Brooks go. Selling our best players is always a barrier to progress, never more so than just now when we have something special happening.

One should hope so.

the problem we have is when a player has his head turned by his agent and the lure of a massively increased salary as part of a transfer. So not only do we have to put up a "not for sale" sign but we need to keep Brooks onside personally. I imagine that he wants two things mainly; to be in the first team squad and play regularly ; and to be well paid. He may be happy to compromise pay for knowing that he will play every week. For this reason I am actually glad that we did not get more players in in the transfer window as it now makes it more likely Brooks will play week in week out. This will be what he wants (presumably) and will also aid his development. Let's hope CW and the club play their cards well and we can keep him.

If Brooks were to go to Everton (or anywhere else) now, it would no doubt be for a lot more than had he left over the summer. Lookman (who still looks overpriced to me) was proven in L1 having played 40+ games which was enough for Everton to take a punt on him. Assuming that Brooks will inevitably leave at some point (unless the unimaginable happened this season of course), I suppose the challenge for Utd will be to optimise his value by balancing his experience (i.e. games played) with the ever decreasing length left on his contract, with the added complexity of the transfer windows. Weighing all that up would probably point to him going in Jan or next summer unless he further extends his contract with Utd.

Think forest turned down 15 million from arsenal for one of their youngsters,so should we for brooks.
How much is delli alli worth now ? 20 Mill or get lost

Why all this talk of selling? On one hand we have those who say we're always a selling club, then there are those who complain we sell far too low.....surely the person whose responsibility for whether a player leaves will be Wilder (or possibly McCabe if we have an extraordinarily large heating bill)?

I'm not so innocent that I can't imagine Brooks being sold, and if so I hope it's because he's had many first team games with us. This should determine a greatly increased fee based on the number of games played and how well he's played. Of course, Brooks might just surprise all of us and decide that he wants to remain with the Blades, at least for the immediate future. I hope he's a strong character and that his agent isn't a few payments behind with his mortgage.

It shouldn't, but in many instances it has done for us - hence the poor track record.

Think you've answered your own question mate.

I'm not asking, or expecting, McCabe and the Prince to be overly brave or careless, but the reason we've progressed and seem to be able to compete the higher we go must suggest the Board should support the manager. I doubt there's any Blade who expects a stellar signing, but as brilliant as Wilder's signings have been, the higher we go the more it seems we'll have to compete at whatever the going rate is. No doubt Wilder will continue to surprise us with his signings, but I doubt that's an inexhaustible well that he can draw from.
