God's country ...... Rovrum!
Just been on RS that Danny Wilson is no longer an option for Barnsely because he's now got another job!

Please God no! :(

PS. Just to add to that, he has suddenly shortened to as low as 2/1 with the bookies ffs

I cant see it if I'm honest but if it is him I will back him (even though he's not my choice). Ex-piggy or not we should support whoever comes in. I think we could do better but we could also do worse!

The vultures are circling:

Itk'er or bull crap?

"He has been interviewed by McCabe and has been offered the job today (wednesday)

How do I know this?

My dad is Wilson's son's boss (construction company) and Wilson flew out saturday night after been interviewed friday morning.

Very disapointing and cheap as chips again from McCabe!"

If this is true, hasn't McCabe learned anything about appointing managers?

I was listening to Talksport this morning and they had David Pleat on. He went on to say that the single most important decision a chairman can make, is the appointment of the manager!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Wilsons record

Barnsley 2 June 1994 7 July 1998 P201 W74 L72 D55 %36.82

Bristol City 27 June 2000 5 June 2004 P226 W107 D64 L55 %47.35
MK Dons 7 December 2004 21 June 2006 P81 W25 D32 L24 %30.86
Hartlepool United 31 June 2006 15 December 2008 P133 W58 L46 D29 %43.61
Swindon Town 26 December 2008 2 March 2011 P120 W43 L37 D40 %35.83

Total P841 W330 L291 D220 %39.24

I think he resigned from the Swindon job having amassed a whopping 3 points from 33. They eventually got relegated

As someone says above, with that record, why have we sacked Adams?

Just hoping and praying this is all a case of 2 + 2 = 48

This must be a wind up, old Kevin can't be that stupid

Blackwell
Adams
Wilson

Not much different in all of them is there...

What the fuck? Surely this can't be true. Someone needs to get a message to McCabe that there are certain managers that will never be accepted by the fans - & Wilson is one of them. His record at Swindon was truly abysmal.

Show some ambition McCabe & stump up the money for a decent manager. Having to spend money comes with the territory if you're a football club owner. If you don't like it, sell up.

To be fair to Danny Wilson his sides do pass the ball. He's by no means a hoofer and I remember his Barnsley side playing some decent stuff when they went up. His best spell I always thought was at Bristol City and his record seems to show that. He still wouldn't be my choice though, I think he's had his day at a big club and didn't quite crack it.

That said.....I wouldn't be worrying about the new manager's style of play too much. Despite KM's comments it will ultimately come down to affordability - always does! If that wasn't the case RDM would have been appointed by now.

Danny Wilson is shocking. He's failed at most of his clubs and his recent record is so poor it's beyond belief. The only thing he has going for him is he would be cheap. If that's McCabe's only criteria he should fuck off.

There are already huges problems between the club and the supporters. This would make the divide even wider.

I don't even understand why he was/is being considered and I am not sure getting Swindon to the play off finals then relegated counts as success to cover Kev's remit. his successful period if you want to call it that was years ago just like Micky Adams. We need someone who is in tune with today's girly players and has had recent success

That being said I would take Robins in a heartbeat if this is the type of crap McCabe is look at

McCabe has a track record of appointing shit managers, to be honest it is more likely he would appoint some turd like Wilson than anyone decent.

Been told that Mccabe is interviewing 4 people tomorrow. Pembo, Robins and Di Matteo are 3 of them by all accounts.

Dave Jones has said he doesn't think he has a future with Cardiff... Just to throw another hat in the ring ;)

I'm the complete opposite. I'd take Wilson in a heartbeat if it means we don't get Robins. At least Wilson has some, very impressive, achievements on his CV and plays attractive football.

SkyBet are reporting 'lumpy bets' on both but (a) bookies massively exaggerate bets taken as a matter of course and (b) the thread on BladesMad might've caused a few people to stick £20 on Wilson.

I agree entirely. Wilson assembled the 'watching Brazil' team at Barnsley and did well at Bristol City. He does, at least, try to play football and that is of fundamental importance this time. The next manager must dovetail with Pembo.

I should stress that he's nowhere near the top choice on my list (Coppell) but he's well ahead of Robins.

Wilson built a good side at Swindon that was unlucky not to beat Millwall in last season, and then it had the guts ripped out of it with the sales of Greer, Paynter and Austin with nothing given back in return to buy replacements. He and Swindon didn't stand a chance after that and Paul Hart quickly found out it was a duff job too.

I'm not saying that I'd want Wilson (or the two time FA Youth Cup winning Hart) but sometimes basic stats give a misleading picture.

Wilson has done it in the past, sounds like Robson, was unlucky then had to sell players, sounds like Blackwell. To be honest, we may as well have kept Adams. Wilson over Robins, probably but neither would particularly convince me yet again that McCabe is backing up his comments with his actions.
