CW to West Brom

Absolutely spot on there JJ.

Even if Brewster's fee is split over the 4 years of his contract he will still be costing us approx £7m per annum based on £40k per week plus the £5m share of his transfer fee.

That equates to free transfer earning approx £134k per week, or whichever way you want to split transfer fee and wages, so I'm really not sure where the argument that CW did the best with what he was given comes from???
What about resale value. What about NI, pension and other personnel costs?

Resale value I'll give you (although based on last season I can't see a queue round the block for Brewster).

All the others. Do we only pay those on free transfers???

No but you wont be paying the amounts you say. On a pro footballer you costs are a bit more than auto enrolment.

Checked the west brom forum the other day, and a few were they mentioning league one bound... Not sure how they think that though as they have a relatively good squad on paper.
They appear to be under the impression that the owner has lost interest which to be fair is a recipe for stagnation and decline although I agree their squad is a very strong one for the championship.

Still have this feeling that CW will finish up there, even after their owner turned him down. All the more reason for him to take the job on to prove the owner wrong in the first place. He likes a challenge does Chris.

Their technical & sporting director has left by "mutual consent". He was charged with finding them a new gaffer. Looks like the relationship has broken down since the vetoing of Wilder.

I like what I'm hearing about West Brom. Hopefully one less promotion candidate to worry about.

Doesn't Lai want to sell?

Read somewhere part of the mandate was no compensation. It seems he knows they need a manager but don't expect much more funding.

All the loanees will return to their parent clubs and Johnstone and Pereira are such obvious departures. Makes their squad a bit meh.

Fulham and ourselves best placed. We weren't a one man team and as such will be able to keep a more than well functioning Championship squad. Fulham lost a lot of loans but they do have a lot of Championship ready loans coming back in the door. Adds another dimension them potentially saying tarrah to Parker.

Whatever happens, I think we did well acting early and getting Jokanovic.

I wouldn't expect that either. They need to get a manager in place fairly sharp though.

It’s relatively the same side that got them promoted isn’t it? Plus Karlan Grant pretty much
Nah they’ve also got a 34 year old Snodgrass as well crippling their wages bill. Don’t think they’re particularly strong and if Pereira gets a move all their creative talent will have been on the wain for a season or two.

Diangana is a good championship player, as are Callum Robinson and Romaine Sawyers. They’ve got the base of a strong side still, depends if they can afford to compliment that

Maybe joining MOTD instead of WBA

Not particularly bothered where CW goes (and I think he can do better than West Brom) but Talksport and co sound ridiculous talking about Steve Cooper for the Palace job and not even giving CW a mention. Cooper can only dream of achieving what CW has so far in the game.

Simon Jordon might have a say in that job and I don't think he's a fan of Chris.

Why would Simon Jordan have a say in who Palace appoint? Did HRH consult with McCabe, McDonald and Brearley before appointed Jokanovic?
Simon Jordan alway has his say, i dont even listen to the radio to know that hes had something to say on something, even if its not his business, which it never is.

He managed to keep Brighton in the league two seasons running without spending what we did.
Didn't do too bad at ostersunds taking conference north players and taking them from 4th tier to Europa league.

Also, despite their poor finishing position, were one of the more entertaining sides, created bucket loads but couldn't score.

He will probably advise the Palace chairman not to touch with a barge pole😊
As Torrix mentioned above, Parish and Jordan hate each other - I think it all stems from when Jordan lost control of the club (and with it a lot of money) There's more chance of Parish seeking your opinion than Jordan's

I would have been more worried about WBA being a rival for promotion under Wilder.

Wagner set a new record for winless games at Schalke, and his win percentage at every club he's managed (including Huddersfield) has never gone above 35%

Cant see them getting automatic promotion, maybe playoffs... at best
I feckin hope not - but it would be a typical Blades story for Calum Robinson to get 30 goals + fire them to auto promotion

I think when one of the things you pride yourself is consistency,, when your not consistent it raises a red flag, he moved Duffy on, quicker than a £7 note, he called out Henderson for dropping the ball against Liverpool got stick for it from some quarters and more support from others, consistency players know where they are etc etc Lundstrom,,,, no consistency, no calling him out, in fact the opposite, improved contracts still on the table, month after month, insipid lacklustre performance after insipid etc etc
Spot on mate , he basically had a 12 month brain-fart , which doesn't bode well in a multi-million pound industry
