Interview here: http://bbc.in/25AB5Y3

Love what I'm hearing so far...

To summarise:
Scougall and McNulty are very much in his plans, he wants the scougall back from the FA Cup run season.

If players don't wanna be here, the doors over there.

Hammond - did we he needed to do but his style doesn't fit CWs style.

Wants fit hungry players.

Lots of "diamonds" available for loan from premier league.

K. McFadzean - "very good CB"

It's refreshing to feel like you can actually gain something by listening to the manager's interview.

Interesting that he says Kevin Long and McFadzean are very good players. If they're the standard we're aiming for at CB we should be strong going into the first game of the season.

No billy big bollocks players swanning around the pitch as if they own it without having to do anything that's what I'm hearing!

Just the kind of manager I like...showing Adkins up a teensy weensy bit int he? ;)

Needs to show him up by getting better results on the pitch.

If we're losing matches his interviews will be ripped to shreds just like any other managers.

Of course.. But first things first, he's come in, got the majority of the fans onside again and positive, sussed out pretty quickly the shirkers and deadbeats in the squad from his detective work....

Which after a bit more groundwork and bedding in (some more patience required here at the start of the season maybe) of his style and ethos...

Equals...

A team and fans singing from the same hymn sheet at last and happy harmony! Its not rocket science but some dithering clots of managers over complicate things with bullshit baffling players brains!

Let's judge Wilder this time next year.
Every manager at every club says the "right things" at the times when it suits them best.
Not being against him, but a few interviews, some comments from his old school drinking buddies and a couple of signings, the released crowd etc etc....

I ain't gonna be suckin' anyone off.

I'm hedging my bets and gonna wait till we've had a few matches to pass judgement. By September every other thread will be "Wilder out".

I echo the sentiment, minus the blow jobs.

Any manager can pay lip service; let's wait until we're 10 games in to pass judgement.

Good signs, though.

But everyone knows we can't keep sacking a manager a season so to all you 'wait and see boys' are you saying he's got this season to get us up or he's gone too?

Or is Wilder the man who gets a bit longer cus he's a Blade and ultimately someone has to rebuild from the mess left behind ?

If the team is giving it all and watching is fun but there are six better teams than us he'll get another season to tweak it, if we're in the top six but the football is brain numbing then he'll be under the same pressure that Blackwell and his predecessors came under.

We don't ask for much but delivering it seems to be such a problem?

We can carry on sacking a manager every season, but we shouldn't.

Needs to show him up by getting better results on the pitch.

He can hardly fail to improve on Adkins' lamentable record. Eight home defeats (including some truly embarrassing performances v. Shrewsbury etc.), 66 points out of a possible 138 over the season, eleven home wins out of 23 games, not so much 'Fortress Bramall Lane' as 'Here's The Points, Come And Take Them Bramall Lane'.

If CW can't improve on that it'll be time to bring Weir back.

CW has done more to instill confidence in a month that Adkins did in 12.

Simple . The man who gets a bit longer is because he gets it right .

Scougall is still a concern for me to be honest. We're almost certainly going to play Sharp and Adams up top every game, which means Scougall has to play in a 4 man midfield. He isn't good enough to play anywhere across a 4 man midfield. If I'm honest, I don't think he even showed enough to warrant being played in his 'best' position at Number 10.

McNulty is a perfectly fine deputy for Sharp or Adams so no problems there. Don't mind Scougall being there if he is just going to come on and chase the ball around for 10 mins whilst we defend a lead. Other than that, he should be nowhere near the 11 for me.

I know this is still in Wilder's honeymoon period, but I can't help but feel this comment might be considered less of a breath of fresh air if it had been made about a much more popular player (rather than one that is very replaceable). Whenever McCabe doesn't try his hardest to keep a player, he'll get know end of criticism.

Great interview. After that, no current players, or players looking to come here, should be in any doubt about the work and commitment Wilder expects. Sounds like he's up for it and working hard. Liked his line about holidays: "I'm done. I've had my five days." :D

oh yeah the Impression the manager makes on the outside is a big one, because adkins couldve been like Bassett/Warnock in the dressing room throwing teacups ripping into them, but when you are watching shrewsbury on a freezing november night where were lucky to lose 4-2 as the newly promoted side could easily have put 7/8 past us & adkins is coming out trying to be positive is really infuriating now he becomes part of the problem

i like the fact that It seems up to long/individual player . Wilder looks like he's set a deadline & if he signs great, if he doesn't then he's released

Or than Clough did in 20 months.

Adkins rightly talked about the need for "togetherness". But then he just seemed to expect it to magically happen - you might even say he implicitly demanded it from fans.

The difference, even in these very early days, is that Wilder's going out of his way to actively create togetherness.

Chris fully deserves all the credit he's received so far - he's earning it.

Well that'not what Wilder said. He made reference to Scougall's play going forward which he wants to develop. Complete opposite of defending a lead.

Scougs could play in a four but at the expense of any width, as the other three would have to sit deeper. It certainly wouldn't be a flat 442.

Is he good enough to warrant that? Nope, but it's fine if that's how Wilder sets up his teams anyway.

The approach with scougall and mcnults is very Bassett esque, players clearly with something to offer going the wrong direction suddenly given a second chance, can they grab it with both hands is the question.

And if it doesn't work, then we won't have a couple of freshly signed players running the clock down for a Season or two, smart move, scougall was genuinely gutted last season at the treatment he got under Adkins, he thinks he's good enough...
