I've not made figures up. I have suggested that the effects which McCabe owns around the club are fairly secure and he seems to be letting the club stagnate, because promotion will require deeper investment. Even more decline wont hurt him much because the club is being made to pay for itself and he owns the material assets. What's not to understand?

It should be a squad the finishes comfortably in mid table this season. It's not a promotion squad but I wasn't expecting that this season.

We need to find our scoring boots however, the longer we stay around the bottom of the League the more the pressure on the manager and the more nerves afflict the squad.

Nope. I'm saying McCabe might very well have to invest and invest heavy on the very low-end squad we have now to remain in the Championship. I'd like your view in fact on who would cut it in the league above should we fluke promotion. I'd say we'd need a complete clear out, root and branch, to even sustain a mid table position. By fuck that would cost, and it would be a fuck sight more than 3k more STs and FL payments with the odd appearance on telly. Not that you'll agree. This lot will be just fine and dandy upstairs, against much of the palyers we have sold in fact over the past few years.

So it is down to shelling out a bit why you don't go to any matches ,home or away and yet your main crib about Utd is from a financial point ,right ? I would have a lot more respect for the view of someone who made the effort and spent a bit of money to go and watch the team yes ,some of us do it put of enjoyment ,what do you get out of Utd ? Or more to the point what do you put in ?

Sitwell, you've known me for years. Way back to SUISA, in fact IIRC. I have always lived in the south of England, 221.4 miles away from my door to the Cherry Street Car Park by the AA Routeplanner, in fact. By your measure, anyone who criticises Sheffield United and lives away, or doesn't even go to a football match, is wrong. But we aren't wrong, you see. We have four points from fifteen, have failed to impress in the pre-season, lost cup games, and have sold our last vestiges of real talent and ability, seemingly to fund another Clough-like player spree, most of whom come December you yourself will be lambasting (simply because they are playing way above their level of ability in L1). And we are twentieth in the table, with a minus goal difference. You tell me there is nothing to criticise? You tell me what difference my £300-400 ST will make on things when players like Adams are chipped off and the proceeds made to stretch across twelve misplaced replacements.

I get enjoyment out of United when they are successful, but now, after seven seasons in the third division will take no excuse why we are still there, especially when the likes of Burton go up with our former manager. Cross off all the non common items connected with the club over that period, start to finish. What are you left with?

I don't have to go to every game to make my mind up sitwell. It seems you sit in the stands every Saturday and think its just summat to do to get out of the wife's way, or you don't understand football. I doubt either. I think you are as pissed off as we are, but can't articulate that anger and disappointment in the right direction, and its coming my way instead.
