What I was actually getting at was more how Blackburn are going to face the cup and will ,Blackburns approach influence heckingbottoms ? if they go strong at Leicester, do we do the same or rest players for the Saturday? Similarly if they rest players Tuesday do we follow suit
For me I don't think PH will be bothered in the slightest with the team Blackburn put out, the video analysis will be done on the expected team to face us on Saturday. We will stick with our game plan which will mean resting a few. Spurs realistically could win the Cup this year with the teams that are left in it, we could do without the distraction. If we win at lunchtime Saturday pressure goes on others which is the main advantage to Saturday lunchtime kick offs

You need to think about what the players want too. Are the players happy to give up their chances of playing at Wembley to improve the chances of Sheffield United having more money to be able to sign better players? If the players are a bit teed off by the team changes, it won't make them consciously want to lose, but it might not help their mood for the league battle.

There are people on the Burnley board want to make 6 or 7 changes for the Fleetwood game, because "the league is more important". You're 7 points clear, we're further than that - stop mithering, play your first team, go and beat them. Being afraid of losing is never a reason for not trying.

The players will be very focused on the huge bonuses they will get for promotion.

Full reserve team for me not worth the risk. We dont make it this season in the league we are fuckerood. ⚔️

No brainer league more important. PH already said the players were affected by having to play again at 12.30 on a Saturday morning at the Wall after less than 2.5 days rest. Add in the possibility of extra time and we should rest as many of the starting eleven as possible.

Team

Davies
Baldock Basham Anel Clark Osborn
Doyle Coulibaly Mcatee
Sharp Jebbinson.

Still a strong side. Fleck to come off the bench to give him some more minutes and possibly Robinson for Clark if he can't last the full 90. Ditto Bogle for Baldock. 10 players rested. Only Basham likely to start at Blackburn due to Anels suspension.
Absolutely no way Hecky will start Coulibaly against Spurs. No way

This isn't necessarily the team I'd select for Spurs, but I reckon we might line up something like this...
Davies
Anel-Egan-Clark
Bogle-Berge-Norwood-Fleck-Osborne
McAtee
Sharp

As others have said. Getting a draw/win at Blackburn hugely supercedes the Spurs game. Go for it with Jebbo and Sharp. Anel as he's ineligible at Ewood. Managing to beat Spurs would be great but 3 points at Blackburn I'd take a battering in the cup. We should look to enjoy this one. play with complete freedom with no comeback.
Losing to Spurs ends our interest in the cup, but losing to Blackburn doesn’t stop us being promoted.
Go for both I say and see where we get to.
The only two who should play on Wednesday are Anel and Davies. Any other 9 will be fine.

Why play Davies? Is Wes tired?

Clarke looks like he’s out for Midweek.. got the Flu.

Back three of

……. Bash………Anel….. JLT.

Can‘t think of any other option unless we go to a back four which is apparently against the terms of the Magna Carta.

Because he has played all the other cup games and deserves his day out at Wembley
Mmm. Back in the real world it would benefit Wes far more to get a hardcore workout so he is totally on it at Blackburn rather than wasting time on someone who is only relevant if Wes is injured.

...so why risk Wes being injured when we have an international to replace him and keep match fit, just in case. Wes might get sent off for spending 30 seconds every time he picks up the ball before releasing it !!!

Yes of course all those things might happen. I'd rather Wes played and kept his levels high than a frankly irrelevant keeper got smashed for 5 so he could have a little play.

Actually, that’s a really good point. It’s almost become the default setting for every team in cup matches and it’s reasonable to question it. Over mitigation against injury, bookings or just keeping the reserve goalie happy? Another daft side to modern football, with my Villa family hat on, it was almost a gift to the eventual winners Man U to stick Robin Olsen in goal rather than Martinez in their League Cup tie. Fortunately Davies is a better understudy to Wes.

An “irrelevant keeper” who was at the World Cup ? A bit unfair on one of the better understudies we have had in the last 10 years.

He's irrelevant. What relevance has he unless Wes is injured. He has none. Just to save your pointless reply.

Play Clark and Coulibaly etc. Have young lads on the bench. Avoid using any that we want involved at Blackburn. I can see Robinson getting sent off against spurs and not worth the risk. They'll be too quick and he's currently doing well so we can't be losing anymore players to suspension or injury.
Great point on Robbo
Pace of Son, and Kane throwing himsen to floor and he sees red
Then we have no Anel or JLT for 2 big games

Blackburn away at Leicester in the cup Tuesday, will they go strong or rest players , with us at home on the Saturday , and will we follow suit on Wednesday
We have the disadvantage of 24 hrs less rest

But advantage of knowing what happened - if Blackburn put out out a full strength side, which against Leicester they will fancy their chances possibly more than us vs spurs, get a couple of injuries and go to ET, Hecky can plan a team for Saturday accordingly - hopefully this happens!
If they field youngsters we know their holding back for Saturday, we should do the same
It means a lot to me. I'd rather us win the FA Cup than get promoted. I could then die a happy man.
Agree with your sentiments but this is about the short and long term sustainability of the club, promotion gives us a buyer and £100m to mount a cup campaign again, not gaining promotion could see us wallow in Championship or worse for years - romance don’t pay the bills unfortunately

If Sander’s looking for a “shop window” game, this might be the perfect vehicle for him to shine.
