That's obviously patently untrue isn't it?
If that were the case, why bother charging him, taking him to court and sentencing him to 5 years imprisonment?
Don't let your outrage overwhelm your thinking capacity. ;)

Get a wesh :)

This is already old news for everyone else in the country, no one's bothered about it anymore, yesterday's chip paper

On the contrary, we can now look forward to a steady stream of coverage up to Wilder's interview on Thursday – where even if he refuses to say anything that in itself will turn into another phase of coverage. All of the media focus for the game Sunday (a previously dull already-title-winners vs already-relegated tie) will now be on this issue. Lifting the title will be a paragraph in yet another Evans story.

Chris Wilder was interviewed over the possibility of signing him before we played Chessie in Nov. His response was something along the lines of "believe me, if there is a good player that we need to be looking at, we're already aware of them".

Edit - found his words “Any player could join this football club at any stage of their career. I’m not singling anybody out.”

This has been a done deal for weeks.

In the same interview he singled out O'Shea. Who he signed a month later...

On the contrary, I said old news for the rest of the country which it already is.

It's only local media that will squeeze everything out of it, just because that's what they do. They'll get bored eventually as it's not that big a story any more, shame it happened now I agree but let's not make it bigger than it really is.

Well I hope you're right, but the fact it made most of the national news yesterday (rather than just sport news) suggests otherwise.

It did, but nothing on todays national news that I've seen. It's a non story for them now it's out, what else is there to say about it.

I have Talksport radio on most of the day.

Short mention on the news last night but no mention today
And the presenters, either yesterday and today have not mentioned Ched once.

The issue was about a club employing an ex convict committing a sexual crime, that is BIG news.
However now that he's no longer guilty, it's a non story, it's doesn't have the same controversy.
We'll see but I'm confident they'll be little national coverage of this.
Do a google search "Forum Ched Evans" and you'll see that nationally people didn't seem that bothered anymore.

In fact if anything he seems to have sympathy with many saying "he was found innocent so good luck to the lad".

I've heard it on the TS news this morning.

Facts:

He's not guilty of rape.

He scored a bucket full of goals for us.

Upon thinking about it, I can't see KMc undermining Wilder to get a player in, if CW is happy/confident then we should be

AND it was one of the short texts running across the bottom of the screen on early morning bbc news.
It said: "Blades look to re-sign striker Evans"
Our world-wide reputation is destroyed :(

What would happen if ched walked out at full time Sunday after the cup is presented, signs his contract in the centre circle then lights a flare in one hand and smoke grenade in the other..

Also loads of young adults have threesomes, group sex etc. There are male, and believe it or not female sexual predators out every weekend but some men refuse to believe that some women love sex and will sleep with anyone because they love sex. But I suppose some of the old fashioned types would call them slags because in their mind women aren't allowed to enjoy and want sex more than men.

I miss Darren too.

My memory is a bit flaky (so forgive me for any inaccuracies), but I seem to recall that when a similar story surfaced during the last transfer window someone posted that they'd asked CW the question of signing Ched in a fans forum, and his reply was basically "not a fucking chance" (or words to that affect).

Anyone recall that?

My two pen'orth.

1. I think it's a daft idea on footballing grounds only.
2. No matter what Wilder thinks he knows who pays his wages and as long as it is not "his budget" that is affected he can live with it.
3. I'm more interested in how it got leaked and by whom. JordoBlade indicated very positively it was to happen and maintained that it came from a Chesterfield director. How about this scenario. Chesterfield FC have had an offer to purchase them plus proof of funds. Due diligence must now take place. As part of that due diligence the club has to divulge that there is an agreement to sell an asset. Not that they are going to sell an asset in the future, but that there is an existing agreement to sell. Someone with no love for SUFC or party to any duty of confidentiality lets that out.

All speculation of course.

"The only thing he did wrong was go behind his girlfriend's back?"

If you see it like that, we'll not get anywhere discussing it. You're entitled to that view.

i will never tell anyone how to feel & whether your ched yes or ched no, tom or anyone is entitled to that view

but he's not a saint, if ched was single this would be whole new ballgame, but unfortunately this is a principle, i may be repeating what i said above but ive learnt to take the court case out of it, the guy apparently loves his girlfriend very much but i cant believe him because if so why was he anywhere near that hotel room to alledgely film it & cause this problem

91 clubs to play for why this is one, when there is so much history. i hope im wrong & i dont want to go all ranieri but wilder doesnt know what he's under, if his stock wasnt the highest its ever been so he almost untouchable if this went pearshaped for any other manager he could risk losing his job

Why are we obsessed with the past. We're continuously banging on about bringing ex-players back. We're a forward looking side, let's be a forward looking club. I'd be happier to take a punt on Ward from Rotherham who I think is available on a free in the summer, and I heard Bogle has a clause in his contract that allowed him to be sold if Wigan got relegated.

Why would they have to divulge anything? Both privately owned companies.

Some want to turn this into a black and white but it isn't and never has been. We all have our own opinions but just because we don't agree with others, doesn't mean that Evans isn't a divisive issue.

At least with his conviction overturned he's less so.

That said I can't help but notice that some of our fans have had an utter obsession with him for years, and seem more happy with his return to give the middle finger to a few, than genuinely believing he's good enough anymore to do the business next season.

No proof of the latter exists and it's all about hoping and trusting Wilder that he can somehow help him get near the player that got 35 goals 5 years ago.

Monster striker ...did f*** all in the championship didnt he ? had his day and I dont want to believe our manager has had anything to do with this what a joke we are again

He struggled in our poor sides playing poor football in the championship. He did alright at Norwich in the Championship despite being very young. Bear in mind that at a similar age, magic Jack had struggled to make an impact in the championship. If we can get anything like the Ched Evans that was sent down in 2012, we have a great asset on our hands. It’s a massive IF though. His fitness is a concern. Just have to see if Wilder and co can work some magic on him. He has undoubted ability.

Because it's a fucking stupid comparison. McNulty won't be with us next season anyway and wasn't good enough this season. Wells at Huddersfield is probably available for 500k at the end of the season

So Evans or Wells?

What?! Why on earth would Wells be available for £500k? Surely he’d be closer to £5million?

May I make a point here. We are dropping £500k on a back up. What does this say for the rest of the recruitment? I'd say it bodes well

If this is the case then I’m fine with it. I don’t think we should be pinning all our hopes on him but if we still sign a more proven striker as well and he’s just a back up option that might come good then fine.

Seasons not even over. This could have waited

Pretty sure this has been leaked by Ashley Carson. Not SUFC. Heard something on Sunday but didn’t believe it til the news broke yesterday. Then listening to football heaven last night, I got the distinct impression that RS sources were at the Chesterfield end as opposed to SUFC. I’m sure we would have rather waited til after the open top bus parade.
