If he comes back that's one season ticket less MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have a good set of decent hard working players we don't need him he had his chance and he screwed it up for us. UTB

I'll have it if you've got the bottle.

It's undone for me.
Wouldn't touch Evans with a bargepole after what he did and the damage it did to the club.
It's about integrity to me and everything about that whole episode stank.
We're now going to have 'Ched Evans, he shags who he wants' chants back and Evans being hero worshipped.
United should be better than that.

the year 2011 12

rhodes was a league one striker with 36 goals hes just gone for 9m

ched scored 28 , but unlike rhodes had another side to his game
Top assists[edit]
Rank Player Club Assists[29]
1 Stephen Quinn Sheffield United 14
2 Clayton Donaldson Brentford 13
Ched Evans Sheffield United
4 Chris Lines Sheffield Wednesday 12
Alan Judge Notts County
6 Lee Novak Huddersfield Town 11
Lee Miller Carlisle United
8 Dean Bowditch Milton Keynes Dons 10
Charlie MacDonald Milton Keynes Dons
Danny Green Charlton Athletic
Jack Hunt Huddersfield Town
Richard Cresswell Sheffield United

13 other goals down to him so 6 more than a 9m assett

2nd best in the league

how can anyone know how good or bad he would have been if hed never been wrongly convicted

I'm fairly sure relegation will cost Chesterfield more than his bonus payment. You would have to be an absolutely stupid manager to not play your best striker in that situation.
Board decision ?

If so, history tells us this tends to override any input the manager or player might have.

The year's good work resulted in promotion and the league title - that hasn't been undone.

It's also resulted in what I would guess are excellent season ticket sales for next season - that hasn't been undone.

What do you think has been undone? I'm not having a go, I'm just really struggling to understand the feeling that everything has now been ruined.

Also, I don't think I'll be alone in thinking that one of the very best things about this season was the exact opposite of "we were a new club". I thought we returned to being our old club, the one we all fell in love with. For me, that was just behind 1st place and 100 points on the list of great things Wilder achieved. I don't see how signing Ched stops us being that brilliant old club. He's an innocent man and I've never heard a single word from anyone in football to suggest that he isn't someone who other players think of as a good team mate.

I have no problems with us signing him, but with all the media attention it is going to cause there was certainly a better time than now to announce it as to not deflect our achievements this season.

Anyway,it's not confirmed yet.
Maybe the back lash and shitstorm will hit home with the board before pen gets put to paper.
Even still,I will respect Cw decision.

Only question: Why upset a marauding apple cart?

Ill timed and shows we CANNOT move on. Plenty of strikers going with a better record in past few years for half a mil.

Wilder's success shouldn't blur the context of this potential signing. Makes us look a right laughing stock.
No. Absolutely no. Categorically no.

What it shows, as is clearly evident in this thread, is that we have thousands of FANS who can't move on. That is all.

Football decision and only that. Tufty wouldn't have it any other way.

UTB

PS Evans n Sharp will tear the Championship a new one. You heard it hear first !!

Yeah but he still went to jail for 3 years, can't be the world's fittest footballer.

Gonna takeover the news now. Sunday won't get a look in

For those of you worrying about the media backlash I think you'll find an initial flurry of reporting then not much thereafter. The reason why? Because he is an innocent man and any media outlet that suggests otherwise, either directly or implied, is going to get their bollocks sued off them. This is going to be a domestic dispute and not much else.

All football aside and whatever because it has been done to death already. Season ticket holder usually go with my dad, he's away Sunday, so taking my mum.... Now dreading cretins singing about this. No matter the legality it is not pleasant doesn't create the right sort of atmosphere, can't for the life of me work out why this was needed not like they're arn't other players out there.

For me, this season has been very special. It seems the club is united again. On that front, this signing could break that unity. Particularly between the players and some of the fans. I have a rule in life, generally, never go back as it hardly ever works out. It somewhat dilutes the Euphoria, pride and emotion I have for this season, if it's true. Having said that I only see the Blades in the flesh once or twice a season, so my opinion doesn't really count.

Most weeks we don't get a look in in the news. Who cares? I don't think "I really enjoyed the game today and I'm pleased that we won but the lack of media coverage has taken the edge off".

Sunday's game will be the centre of my world for 90 minutes, I will absolutely love seeing us lift a (proper) cup for the first time in my life, I'll get proper choked up watching my boy's face when Billy gets his hands on the trophy and I'll have a right good drink afterwards and I won't give a flying one what is being written about us in the Daily Express or what fans of other clubs are saying about us.

You've really got no idea what you're talking about have you?
A footballer (with a history) signs for us and somehow due to your well stated dislike, he's a 'chancer' and a 'leech'
Can you justify that?

Mind you I might agree if it does cause Wilder to walk - but if he was in on the deal - live with it!

There is no way both Manager and Club Captain haven't bought into this.

Onwards and upwards.

Let's see. If Wilder had punted half a million on some unknown foreigner who'd torn apart a comparable domestic league to League One half a decade ago, but then took a hiatus from the game as he really, really wanted to try to break into the charts as a professional ukelele player, I'd trust Wilder's judgment but would think it's an incredibly low percentage play which doesn't get a return on investment enough to justify the move. That's basically what he's done here, except with a bonus added shitstorm. Cannot believe this move, it's not like we actually need strikers anyway

It'll be in the news for a bit and that's it.

He was found not guilty, that is the end of it.

If people seriously find his moral bankruptcy so bad, fair enough, but that's all he is guilty of and it's not a reason for him not to play for us imo.

There are many more examples of players that have behaved badly, they get some grief but that's all it is.

Personally I think he fits Wilders style of football perfectly.

Like, like, like. like, like.......

" Shoreham boys we are here , shag your women and drink your beer "

:tumbleweed:

If Wilder/Sharpe/McCabe are happy I'd take their stance over yours any day.

The bottom line . Are Wilder , Knill , Sharp happy and the board .

Wilders backroom staff will get him fit and firing on all cylinders .

Is Evans good enough for us

Is the fee acceptable of £500K

If Wilder thinks so , good enough for me . Worth a punt .

Just a shock for us all . However have we moved quick due to money owed or other clubs interested .

Also whatever is said , the guy owes us imo

I'm sorry, what the fuck is Wilder thinking (if this is his decision).

He has just delivered the best season we've had for a long, long time. Won us our first title in over 30 years and has all the fans as one behind the team. Why the fuck do we then go and sign one of the most divisive players that have ever played for this club?

What a fucking stupid decision. How to lose a lot of good will, support and positivity in one stupid and completely needless move.

It's not 2012 any more. Ched has been injured for most of the season. He wasn't good enough in the Championship at 22. Why would he suddenly be at 28 after spending the best part of 4 years out of the game?

And for 500k? Unless we've suddenly got millions to throw around, this is a ridiculous gamble.

Glad Wilders in charge.

Imagine where we'd be if someone who didn't know what they were doing was in charge?
