Not sure how they got us here, however by hook or by crook they did. I know it was frustrating waiting but I think this is a brilliant appointment.

I think the next best thing they could do now is allow anyone who hasn't renewed over the last 2 years to renew at the April discounted price.

Then we could be a fully forward thinking club!

Credit my arse. Yes, potentially a great appointment but he just dropped into their laps at the eleventh hour. I bet the board can't believe how lucky they are with this one.

The board will only earn credit depending on how they move this forward and how well they back the manager.

They actually interviewed David Weir before last week. The delay has been down to what's happened at Everton/Man Utd. As you would expect Weir wanted to see how that played out. So we waited...

Well that's how one story goes ;)

And then send me the difference again for actually being loyal and renewing before the deadline. Those who havent been for the past 2 years are probably the biggest bunch of moaners, why should they get the same discount as those of us who stuck with the Blades for the past 2 years

Time to move forward with a fresh start. I stuck with them and I don't want the difference, I just want a competitive club.

So do I but I had to stump up my cash early, so should everyone else. Most of those that jumped ship over the last 2 seasons will be the loudest booing when the first pass goes astray.

If the team is successful then they will come back anyway and they can pay full price.

To be fair Jon, it looks as though he was a realistic candidate at Everton until RM agreed to take the job. If the waiting was to enable that situation to resolve, then it was a worthwhile reason. Far better than to lose our nerve and appoint one of Morgan et al, surely?

Yes, quite so if that was genuinely the case but it appears from other reports that he was a last minute applicant after losing out to Martinez. I guess we'll have to wait to see what lies the club makes up the club say about it before jumping in. For now though, I''ll continue to reserve my praise for the board in spite of feeling optimistic and looking forward to what the new regime has in store - for a change.

When the forums resident nobhead going to pipe up ?
He's probably already found that Mr Weir claimed too much in travelling expenses to come for an interview and no one from the club bothered to check.

Doesn't matter who what or how, what matters is they made the most of the opportunity. At this point a massive well done to everyone involved in making this happen. Its important to give credit where it is due.

They now need to back him fairly and squarely. It could be an unmittigated disaster, or a storming success, heres hoping the club, fans and everyone else connected gives it 100% to give it the best possible chance of success.

Agree with OP on this.

While fans have been naturally frustrated, the fact we have bided our time with the right level of due diligence and a robust and lengthy selection process should be commended.

And it look like we are all mostly happy with the appointment as well as Weir is the right "type" of appointment. So alls well that ends well.

So yes, a degree of credit is most surely due.

UTB.

What the hell for? I renewed early to get the discount. Tough shit for those who didn't. You don't saunter into a shop in summer demanding January sale prices, do you?

It's a discount for those who renew early. Those who dither get to pay full price. Why should they get a discount?

That's right, because the atmos has actually got better and better as the crowds have shrunk hasn't it?

Well then, let's charge those who renewed double, and give free tickets to those who haven't been for two years or longer. That'll fill it right up.

Well next year when you get to the January sales let me know how you get on. Chances are there won't be much there for you to look at. This is business, not who has the bigger cock

One of the problems in business, is devaluing your product and upsetting your main customer base :)

Whilst I wouldn't begrudge the suggestion, it's not really pulling the "bigger" card stating the obvious on a clearly described "offer".

im happy for the first time for ages about blades. yes it might not work out, weir still has a poorish squad, no money etc, but I'm amazed we haven't gone for a has been manager, I hope he is able to keep some of the kids and really help us progress, UTB!

It upsets me more that we have all these cheap games now. With the season ticket offer nobody is actually going to be sat next to me on the South Stand for a tenner, they will have paid just as much as me. I am not sure how extending this offer upsets the customer base more than those cheap days do.

If you want a good product you are going to need more customers. I think there will be customers our there we could get back and who would pay no more or less than me. The empty seat next to you doesn't add any value and since when haven't January sales been available all year if you know how to haggle.

Re-open the offer, how does it harm you?

Could argue that those who blindly go have got us in this mess by not abstaining and should pay more as a penance?

Just think what might have been if Turry and Robbo weren't mates and never had that meal in Vegas?

It think its more lucky than anything else that he lost out to RM. However hopefully we can finally start to 'be' a lucky club.

So me watching since the late 60's, not blindly by the way and I have seen all the crap, It all seems to be my fault?

So if we had no fans it would be all great?

:)

Yes it's clearly an either/ or situation.

credit them for finding a bit of hope in a time of darekness

lucky , I dont think our board could ever be described as lucky
damned if they do damned if they dont, , to begrudge them actually seeming to do something positive , is mean

I'm not sure that can be classed as "lucky"
I think it might have more to do with Bob Martin having 300 games experience and a couple of trophies in his locker.
