Might not be everyone’s opinion but to me. the rivalry with Sheffield Wednesday is as much a part of being a blade as going to Bramall Lane every other week.

I actually feel sorry for fans of teams who don’t have a proper rival - I’m sure you’ll come back with a list of ‘huge rivals’ that Coventry apparently share, but let’s be honest these are either rivalries where the other team actually has a bigger rival or (and I’m not being harsh here) ones that have been completely concocted by your own fairly weird fan base that are not reciprocated by the other team.

But each to their own I suppose.

A lot of our rivalries have been spoilt by our pathetic past 20 years. In the 90s, it was strong with Villa as Birmingham spent time out of the PL and in the 00s it was very lively with Leicester but their successes in the past decade completely blow us out of the water. Leicester have started to realise Derby and Forest aren't as interested in them.

I think that’s largely the point - a genuine rivalry doesn’t diminish over time. As Gimli states it’s part of the DNA of the fanbase. Most clubs don’t have that, but some do.

It’s impossible to imagine any other rivalry than the one we have with W*dnesday. If they didn’t exist, I doubt many Blades would be looking for a replacement, which effectively is what PUSBCCFC is talking about.

You never know mate , you might get that first season bounce in the prem , the publicity and atmosphere of been a prem club is something else , look at us we were 7th at one stage when we 1st went up , nowt against cov club or fans , you’ve been through some rough times , enjoy it while your there , and tbh Love hamer and he can do some amazing stuff, but he does disappear a bit in games , ps OHare is fucking fantastic!!

The point was, I wouldn't trade being a one club city with a collective civic pride with have a rival in our own city.

When we had our parade in May, the whole city was out, many of the people wouldn't have been to many games before but it was a celebration of more than just the football club.

And my point again is why does that matter? I'd rather celebrate with actual fans than people who don't normally give a shit about the team.

Problem will be if u only have 30-40% possession in a lot of your games...which you will...Gus is a liability as his defensive attributes are zero, he gives away a lot of fouls and he also gives the ball away a lot. He'd be good off the bench chasing a hame but hes actually a lot better in a top Championship side who see a lot of thr ball.

Obvious why you'd want him back though amd if he moves i for one will wish him all tje best and hope he does well in the PL

I'd expect Hamer to be a different beast with a manager that actually implements coaching, tactics and discipline.

Like Berge, Wilder has a quality deep lying centre mid.. and plays them anywhere except there. Yet moves Peck from his natural attacking position to a deep lying position. BBD gets put on the wrong wing despite previous success in his natural positions. Burrows and Seriki, two very good wingbacks, forced to play as full backs when they can't really defend. Our best CB Tanganga at right back. There's probably a lot more. And we wonder why we have a confused team that looks like they've just met eachother and have absolutely no systems in place!

How right you are Matt a little story from work had to work in Liverpool for six weeks for a new company with a lad I didn't know we were both booked into the same room
I was worried that he may be from the dark side, if he was I would have to find alternative accommodation we got in the room after work and he said I do a run in the evening so he got his gear out and out came a blades top I said thank god to that or words to that effect he said so you are a blade too I was not going to share if you were from the dark side seen him many times at the matches after and we still have a laugh about it
