One of the interesting things about this season is the way we've grown into the league.
I'll be honest, after the first 4 games or so i thought: We'll be fine but can't see us dominating in many games the way we did in L1. We will beat the likes of brentford and barnsley 1-0 in tight games, but will struggle against the better sides such as cardiff and boro, as borne out by our first few results.
Since then we've gotten much more of a foothold, not just in terms of results, but in terms of the way we play as well. I know I should never have doubted this given Tuftys continued emphasis on exactly this style of play, but it's one thing to have a principle and see it work sometimes and not others (which is what i expected), and entirely another for it to be as effective as it has been.
We are now much more comfortable setting out not just to keep it tight and organised and try and win, but to actually dominate games and win comfortably. I still think we can improve in this regard, but the important thing is that we look completely at home in this division.
This dominance is down, in large part to our midfield, as they have so much quality both on and off the ball. Don't get me wrong, the defence and attack also deserve massive credit for their performances, but i think it's our midfield that really sets us apart. Their growth in confidence has been the catalyst for us going from good to great since the start of the season.
