Wilder Out!

Saves our armchair committee doing it in October.

Could we also give him a funny nickname too?[/QUOTE
Probably...something like Wilderbeast Out!...after first defeat.

That's a fair comment Sitters.

I don't dislike Adkins at all but he's given very little in terms of recruitment, motivation, tactics and results to suggest he's got any more idea than your average Joe who sits on the Kop.

For 500k per year we're entitled to expect more.

He took a painfully long time to assess the squad to say he has been in and around football for so long. There might have been one or two borderline cases but to suggest all the squad get a fresh start was naive. Just from scouting of league one he should have known that too many were not good enough. We could ill afford him wasting a window not prioritising shipping players out.

His recruitment which was poor and expensive merely compounded this.

Getting rid assumes the new guy can do better but a week ago we were 12th. We're 8 off the play offs and about 20 off first. Who with experience could do worse (apart from reappointing Weir)?

Only slightly earlier than your Clough out call which had worked brilliantly so let's not get too high and mighty with the ironic humour

I think I've explained the difference between the two in great detail.

No you're right, but let's face it, this is the exact sort of suicidal blunder this club would make.

If Adkins was sacked today I would fully understand why. I wouldn't like it in many ways but frankly I would be relieved. This season has been a nightmare. I would not know what's going on in the dressing room and in fact we had a thread this week which said a young player rated Adkins highly, but we've witnessed a shambles of a season which has been hard to fathom at times and who knows whether the Adkins of old will ever stand up to be counted. From where I stand I'd give that a 25% chance, it's hard to recover from situations like this and there's one hell of a job to do. If the Board have consulted players and staff about the spirit and belief in the club, there lies the starting point from here onwards.

Adkins doesn't deserve to stay in his job for the sole reason of the club's desperate need for continuity. He hasn't earned the right to that in my eyes. If all this is nonsense I would also understand fully why the club are keeping him. I'd be worried though.

If Adkins was sacked I could understand given the fact the job description included promotion, just as I understood why Clough was sacked.

However Cloughs team was in decline (3 wins in the last 3 months of last season) take Murphy out of that side and we end up where we are, mid table. However it appeared a few were on their way out as well as a few coming in, I'm not sure what impact macfadzean and smith (2 reported to be incoming) would have had. Clough did however deserve another season for the purpose of continuity if nothing else.

Adkins has cleared out so right garbage from the Clough era, Hammond should have been a great signing but hasn't worked out, Woolford is awful and Sharp has been the saving grace, a couple of loan signings in Edgar and Basptiste look assured but need to be permanent signings, I'm always wary of the commitment of loan players. Had the board back Adkins in the signings of Burns and Morsey our season would possibly have looked very different, however we're too busy chasing a bargain.

In my opinion sacking Adkins would set us back 18 months (again), IF a new manager comes in they need to hit the ground running as the current trend for sacking managers is promotion or you're out.

I don't think getting rid of Adkins will set us back . We are in a fortunate position that players contracts are up , and we can just about start with a clean sheet . Recruitment is key and at the moment , rightly so , it's low key . This could have been blown completely out of the water , if Adkins is on his way .

Who is to say that Crosby and Wilkins are not staying , which would help us in some stability and continuity .

Adkins has not pulled any trees up , and deep down I don't think he will be missed that much by supporters . its about trust and passion , and perhaps Adkins is just punch drunk , and we do need a fresh face .

Adkins has fallen on his own sword , but the bloke can only push so much shit up hill . Fall guy is always the manager , Kevin McCabe needs to learn how to hold is nerve , and help his managers , who appear to become isolated at the lane . Feel more sorry for SUFC than Adkins , we just cannot get things right .

UTB,

Its that sort of situation. Put me on the board and I'd sack him probably. Wilder in -5 year contract, sink or swim. Go down with our feet firmly on the ground , no bullshit. Ok I said it. No place for bullshit in S2.

Yep, give Wilder a 5 year contract , and we would be paying him 4 years worth of his contract compensation after the first year .

Rolling contract with a massive bonus incentive for success seems to be the way forwards, but with who. Just completely lost on the rights and wrongs on the manager front . For once McCabe is dammed if he does , dammed if he doesn't .

meaningless laughable statement (or did you really mean minus 5?). Adkins is on a 3 year contract and you want him out and paid off after 1. So offer a 5 year deal next? Then what after Wilder goes at your behest after a year? 7 years? Bonkers.

Just a couple of problems with the above....

Firstly Burns... we supposedly went in for him and was all set for signing him, however Fulham got injuries and needed him so he wasn't allowed to move he then made himself a first teamer(that wasn't the board not backing the manager... )

Secondly Edgar has been poorer than McEveley, you look at the games in which Edgar as played and the goals we conceded... alot were from Edgars mistakes (very few from JM...) had it been the other way round... well we all know what happens...

Thirdly he thought Collins was the answer and welcomed him back from the cold (so much for getting rid of the rubbish...

the other bit that caught my eye was the "3 wins in the last 3 months" so if we include May (even though it was only 3 games and 2 were the play offs) that would be March, April and May

April 7th we beat Doncaster 3-2
April 4th we beat Barnsley 2-0
March 24th we beat Scunthorpe 4-0
March 17th we beat Port Vale 1-0

(so that's 4) and if we are being really true and pedantic 3 months would be the 12th Feb to the 11th May

so would also include Wins against Rochdale, Notts County and Bristol... so thats 7 wins in the last 3 months (1 more than Adkins has had in the last 3 months in what is a poorer league)

Potentially out of 57 points from 19 (if you don't include the play offs) we got 29 points (just over 1.5 points per game) yes maybe not Promotion form... we also scored 30 goals....

granted we lost Murphy... but we also gained Sharp...

in contrast since the beginning of the year (just over 3 months) we have played 18... getting just 22 points (1.2 points..which is practically relegation form) ...scoring 21 times.... and people say Clough was the negative one....so if you say Clough had a "bad run in" jeez what is Adkins having...

I mean if you actually look at the teams Adkins had just before he took over them... you will see why he had success...
