For what it's worth I never thought that. Derby's are never easy in fact no game in the championship is easy.

We had an off day in the sense that we made some horrendous decisions at the back but a lot of that came about because you were putting us under pressure. Anyone that said before the game that we would win easily clearly knows nothing about football
You mean, they were Wendy fans!?:p:D

That was too easy;)

It probably does go deeper than Carlos to be honest
It does go much deeper than Carlos. He doesn't have any control over which players are brought in for him; Chansiri Chancers have set up one of the most bizarre recuitment policies in the entire football league. They sacked all their scouts and hired a Portugese-based agency to oversee all overseas player recruitments. Lots of "agency fees" money changes hands on some fairly big transfers. Carlos obviously has the final say on team selections, and that's why so many of the foreign players don't even make the subs bench.
OK - we could say Carlos isn't to blame based on what he has to deal with, but we all know what Wilder would say if he was offered a manager's job on the same terms.
The last transfer window was a real puzzle - how can you choose to swap a proven striker for a midfielder who hadn't played a single Champ game last season? You only had to read what all the Derby fans said about him to know he wasn't going to solve any problems.
How on earth could you spend £10 million on Jordan Rhodes?!? The days of having the luxury of a "centre-forward" (old terminology - but he is an old-fashioned type striker) waiting for crosses from both flanks in the right areas (6 yard box usually) are long gone. He's a passenger. You need 10 outfield players who work their tail-feathers off for 90+ minutes. Put him in your team and you're down to 10 men.
Man-managing FF might not be easy - but somehow you've got to do it, because without him the Owls are a very ordinary outfit.
Trouble ahead methinks..........

Hi

I am a Wednesday fan so probably not welcome on your board but....

I just wanted to wish you congratulations on yesterday. Hurts me to say it but you were outstanding. Our defence was awful but barring 10 or 15 minutes after half time you controlled the game.

Wilder really has done an amazing job and I thought your fans were class yesterday. Love games when both sets of fans are singing like that, such a change.

Anyway, enjoy the win.

Cheers buddy. Humble of you

Worth noting tho that according to Owlstalk:

We're still crap as we haven't spent any money.
We won because you didn't turn up, not because we're half decent.
Wilder is a Pub League, drunkard Manager.
Wendy will definately finish above us
Brooks is good, but not that good and anyway he'll be gone in January
"Pashun" will only take us so far
They're still asking themselves how can a bunch of "journeymen" beat a top La Liga side?

Big of you to come on and say so, I certainly wouldn't be able to do the same. A few of my mates are also level headed Wednesday fans, so it's nice to know there are a fair share which aren't deluded.

Out of curiosity, were you bouncing? And at what point did you stop? :D

Nice balanced view, was an amazing advert for just how good the championship is and how much our city needs the Derby and rivalry gets the blood pumping, I have said it before that one of your weakest links seems to be Carlos, nice enough bloke, but think at times he is tacitly naïve, sets up a team to do a job but the parts seem miss matched and out of balance, Nice to have sensible views from your side of the city WILLIAM H BONNEY also when I have dealt with him seems to be level headed also.

Thank you for this. This is what sport should be about. Sadly sportsmanship seems to have largely gone out of football both from the players and particularly the fans and I include most of our fans in that too. Having said that I think that the players on both teams were very sporting yesterday. It was hard fought and passionate but there was no diving, play acting or intimidating the ref.. What a pleasure to see. This I think was aided by the ref who was excellent and as a result kept the resect of the players. Tempers tend to get frayed when refs start to become inconsistent or too niggley. I should add that although I only watched on TV I thought the noise level of the Wednesday fans was fantastic. Think pour home crowd could learn something from that.
In other sports such as Cricket and rugby fans often mix to watch the match and can still applaud the opposition if they do something good or win the match and accept gracefully that they were beaten by a better team on the day. Obviously football fans have been segregated for years and it seems that the passion and tribalism means this will always be the case, particularly as football has always attracted the hooligan element. SUFC have their own share of hooligans sadly. I would like to think that had we lost yesterday some of us would heve had the good grace to say towards your team what you have said towards ours; but hopefully for the return fixture we will still be "top dogs".
Good comments about the ref who was excellent. I noticed when Basham was getting a talking to he put his hand on the ref's shoulder, the ref told him to remove it in no uncertain terms.

I was a bit surprised at how poor you lot were.
Very one dimensional...a 'rich man's hoof' basically,

Yes mate I was bouncing. I think you know at which point that ended :)

Just after we equalised was the only point that I thought we could go on to win the game.

Fair play to you.

Agree on all points. Carlos is a smashing bloke and is classy in how he goes about things which I admire. He frustrates the hell out of me because he is brilliant in some areas but yeah he can be very naïve. He puts a lot of emphasis on the full backs who are a big weak link for us and basically offers them no protection.

It was obvious that Wilder had spotted a weakness out wide in our team and Carlos did nothing about it.

It left a lot of space and the back four for your team never seemed to want to cover each other, at the start of the Second half, I though Carlos had figured it for you and seemed to have a strong bit it of play but it was still a miss at the back and they just don't seem to be in sync with each other at times, still think you will be up around near the end of the season, however for the push perhaps it maybe is time for someone else to take the helm and see if someone else can get a little more from the players you have? I don't think that will happen though as it would seem Chansiri seems to have faith in Carlos so think he will get till the end of the season.

I've said the same thing to a couple of Wednesday mates. If we didn't get our 3rd goal as quickly as I did, I could easily have seen your lot going on to win. You had so much momentum after the equaliser, and if had stayed 2-2 for 5 or 10 minutes it would only have built up more.

But that 3rd goal just seemed to take all the wind out of your sails. You could visibly see a number of your players heads drop, they knew that all that hard work in the 2nd half had just gone out the window.

Hmmm I also watched on tv apart from the Rental Kiddie Bouncy Castle song that lasted for about a minute the wendys were out sung throughout the match.
The only thing our home fans can learn from them is don't look as ridiculous as they do.Don't allow a drum or a third world band into the ground.

Well that was a pleasure to read. It's nice to see opposing fans have a measured, civilised, discussion......what is the world coming to.

This thread is a piss take, can't believe so many have falling for it

In fairness the first goal was class from the Blades in the challenge from Basham, through the Brooks run and the brilliantly executed free kick.

The 2nd was a total shocker from Wednesday - proper pub league defending.

3rd goal - Hahahahaha, fucking brilliant

4th goal, well done Leon but the defending stunk it out

Add to that, the save from Brooks and the miss from Leon. It was a real massacre.

Amazing how all these teams keep playing shit against us, aren't we lucky?

Also interesting that followers of SWFC have convinced themselves and each other that United were up for this game as a one off, our "cup final".

Well, us Blades know that United are "up for it" in every game they play and the approach they took yesterday was just the same as at Southend away last season.

And will be on Wednesday against Wolves.

Win lose or draw, this squad Wilder has put together will never leave anything out on the pitch.

And that's all a fan can ask.

Not bad for a "pub team".
So much this. There were a couple on FH tonight, "they were up for it", rubbish. Yesterday we were no better than many other games in the last 11 months. Just another day at the office :-)
