Chris Armstrong will have a medical at reading after Sheffield United agreed a £750,000 fee for their left-back. The Royals wanted southampton’s andrew surman but could not afford £2.5million.

This was in the papers a week or so ago aswell don't mind him going tbh, we have good cover on the left.

Blackwell has confirmed he is going, not overally disappointed to see him going to be honest, think we have better players that can play in his positions.

Would like to thank him for his effort though whilst BDTBL

not too sad as you say but got to thank him. cant see him getting regular first team football here which really he deserves.

hopefully the money will eb reinvested elsewere on the team.

Brown anyone?

If it is true that he goes, he goes with my best wishes.

Fully commited player,

To come back from an injury that nearly finished him and to still play the way he does says a lot about the lad.

If he goes I wish him all the best for his future and thank him for his time at The Lane.

Exactly. He could have taken the money, he didn't, and he always gave his best for us. Hopefully he'll get a very good reception when he next plays at the Lane.

Sad to see him go.

I like Strech and would prefer to keep him.

Although like everyone has said he does need 1st team football.

confirmed Chris Armstrong 26, joins championship rivals Reading for an initial fee of £500,000, which could rise to £800,000

good luck Chris, all the the best for the future and thanks for all you've done :)

Just watched Blackwell on Bladesworld......with the amount of cover in that position he thought it was fair to let him go to play football.

Sounds reasonable to me........I liked him too for his attitude.

:)

Stretch Gone to Reading

Surprised this hasn't been posted in here yet.

Chris Armstrong has joined Championship rivals Reading for an initial fee of £500,000 which could rise to £800,000.

The 26 year old who joined United in summer 2003 for £100,000 from Oldham made 84 league starts for the Blades, scoring six goals.

At home at left-back or in midfield Armstrong was brave and tenacious and overcame a potentially career-threatening knee injury at United to force his way back into the reckoning.

Good luck Chris is all I can say.

Always reliable and you know he wouldn't bottle anything.

This also frees up some wages too, for a squad player.

not really gutted in a manner but i do think he is a good player and i wish him all the best of luck :)

Interesting to read is this thread.... considering it is now considered a mistake in selling him in some quarters....
