United’s accounting year runs to 30 June. The Ramsdale money of c.£24m wasn’t, therefore, included in the most recent accounts which showed the profit of £9.5m.
In theory, therefore, the accounts to June 2022, should also look relatively healthy after a season in which we’ve had the first parachute payment, paid no transfer fees, received a big fee in for Ramsdale, and reduced the wage bill through performance-related salary cuts.
With another parachute payment - albeit reduced - we should still be able to be one of the most competitive clubs in this division, financially, next season.
That being said, we are, of course, the club that spent the next 20 years of our history pleading poverty and a ‘£3m debt’ after building ‘The New South Stand’ for £650,000…
