If i was the new manager coming in one of, if not my first priority would be to drop one of the two and replaced for time being with an emergency loan. Any opposition forward with a slight bit of pace causes them endless amounts of problems...

Killa in for Collins.

Crying out for it IMHO and should just about be attainable for us.

Yep - been saying this for a while. We look like conceding every time we come up against anyone with even a bit of pace. Both Collins & Maguire are alarmingly slow and it's so easy for opposition forwards to run (walk!) past them and get in on goal.

Can't disagree, although their two front men today look pretty good. All this passing it round the back must have been noticed by every 1st division manager who simply has to tells his players to pressure our back four, they're so pedestrian they're bound to make a mistake. Hill and McGuire look like Bambi on ice at times. I also don't think our lads are the sharpest knives in the drawer either

The first 55 minutes we looked like we were playing statues at the back , Collins seemed to be suffering from having his boots nailed to the floor, the midfield was non existant and they ran through us at will.
Three substitutions later we were a different team , for the first time we became an attacking force, it was like someone had thrown a switch on a robot from off to on , lets pray those final 25 minutes aree the start of the rest of the season in effort commitment and attack

I can't understand the fuss about either maguire or long. Maguire thinks he is beckenbauer at times and can have a nice touch, generally he is a big lumbering oaf with the turning circle of the herald of free enterprise. Long is the worst 'shot stopper' I have seen for a long time. He made one save today which was good but was really straight at him. He has no anticipation and looks half asleep most of the time. Maybe a bit harsh as he is only young but I think we need experience in nets at the moment.
Collins is just shit.

Not harsh at all. Long and Maguire both very average. I'd disagree with the herald of free enterprise and raise you a Costa Concordia/Titanic.

Can't add any more you're spot on all three counts

I think both of them have been pretty poor since Xmas last year. Collins is getting worse each season now after a decent 2011/12. He now reminds me of player we signed that had moved on from club to club every season and looked so horrific in the Champ relegation season.

Maguire too now looks far from player touted for a big money move. He'll do well to become an established centre back at this level first.

Sadly dropping 2 is unlikely and at least Harry may improve. We need to sign someone with pace alongside him.

I think Collins and Doyle being moved on should be one of first priorities of new manager. They are a symbol to me of the decline of this club. They play every week and we continue to move further down the leagues. Them 2 have been one constant over last 3 years and our decline with them as the hart of defence/midfield surely is not coincidental?

Replacing one of them would probably be the answer, just needs someone at the back with a bit of pace.

We need a leader somebody like Rob Jones .

Sorry but Collins is a liability McGuire badly needs to get some discipline back into his game.

Maguire and Collins are as poor as Clarke and Wilson are good. It was only ever going to end one way.

Agree. Collins is just 30 and hasn't been injured a lot, but he looks a lot slower than a season or two ago.

Would it be worthwhile to try McGinty?

I would sign at least one new centre back; with mobility and pace.

I would drop Collins for him and tell Maguire he is next if he does not improve fast

I would play McFadzean left back and maybe Flynn at right back; sounds bizaree but can they do any worse than others? At worst McMahon will have to play there. Westlake is hopeless. A dreadful signing.

I would sign an experienced big brick out house to play in front of defence.

Straight away things would improve.

Whatever happens till the end of the season at least we will be rid of Howard, Hill, Williams, Westlake, McMahon, Flynn for starters.

Sadly stuck with Collins, Doyle, McGinty, Murphy for another season

Mcginty is terrible.

That's the worry. Westlake, McMahon, Hill, McGinty, Williams, Lappin. All utter garbage with barely a fag paper between them all for shitness. We just keep dropping one and bringing another back in.

Hill is utterly shite but you know what I might be tempted to play him and Maguire at centre back for a few games; just to shake things up. Doyle has to be dropped for McGinn (who did well today but has been a mixed bag)

Hopefully Miller can come in and Taylor and King can fight between them to play alongside him.

The glaring weakness last few years regardless of defensive mistakes and attacking limitations has been complete lack of pace and power in key positions. This remains and is maybe worse than ever. Clarke and Wilson looked like scoring every attack as our midfield just crumbled leaving centre backs exposed and the complete lack of pace was embarrassing to watch at times.

flynn is too nesh to play RB

You are probably right. I am clutching straws. We have utterly horrendous full backs. About 23 of them!

We have shocking centre backs too but only 2!

id put hill with collins at CB, williams and mcmahon LB/RB

We haven't seen him at centre half though?

That's what scares me. At Bradford he was eye poppingly bad. At least out wide the damage he can do can sometimes can be retrieved.

His signing and that of Johns and Lappin (albeit short term) are just more dross draining wages.
