Things I learnt today

All the people who say the OP and those of the like are sad, idiots, clowns, slashers whatever.

Who is meant to create Cannon chances? 😂

Vini and Hamza as a midfield 2 don't work (ok not learnt today as me and many others warned about having two defensive midfielders together)

Square pegs/round holes - Wilder keeps doing it... why??? One things clear is Wilder is a good man manager but a very average tactical manager.

Cannon may be a good player or may not.. however one thing that's absolutely clear is he does not suit our style of football whatsoever... Wilder just needs to put his hand up, admit he fucked up and drop him from the starting lineup.

Nothing to do with Cannons ability but he's just not a Sheffield United hard working player

If anything else learned today, put it below 👇
Loan him out to Leyton or

Needs first team experience, he's not ready yet, league 2, maybe low end championship next season on loan if we go up, then he'll be ready for the promotion push in 26/27

When did a section of our fans get like this seriously, it's fucking embarrassing, we have won more points than anyone in the league, joint with Leeds. Yes that was one of, if not the worst performance of the season but fuck me, where's this entitled bollox we should just walk over teams, walk the league, sack managers when we're in an automatic spot. Have any of you cunts watched this club for the last 100 years. I honestly don't get it. What are any of you bringing towards supporting the football club. Just fuck off.
Social inadequacy. Social media allows nobodies to get reactions they can't get in the actual world.

We did, Cannon and Campbell up top which didn't work and then Cannon up top after Campbell came off, think Brewster ended the game as ST.

Ok. I think I saw that. Then I understood the back four would be Clarke Anel Robbo and Burrows. That leaves four to fit into a midfield. I saw BBD on the right looking uncomfortable thinking he was supposed to be a right winger but wishing he wasn’t. Hamer on the left but wanting to get forward centrally. Souza looking for someone to pass to and Choudray actually as the deepest last man looking to pass to a midfield that didn’t exist because he wasn’t there. Wilder in brain fart selection mode again. But it’s never his fault. The fact he had on 56 minutes to manufacture a midfield by sticking Peck on and balancing his back four by getting rid of the disruptive Choudray and creating an attacking threat with Jeserun allowing Hamer to move inside should tell you everything about his fucking stupid initial line up.

Don’t think it’s entitled to want to be a little bit entertained & see us play some half decent football every now and then mate.

We originally set up this season as being hard to beat (hence why we conceded so few goals at first), unfortunately that's changed since Souttar got injured as it's affected the balance of our whole back line and we've been conceding goals far more often since then.

Souttar and Anel played really well as a partnership, in the same way that Gilchrist and Souttar worked well together as RB-RCB, and vice versa with Anel and Burrows at LB-LCB.

For some reason, Anel and Gilchrist never quite got that same partnership, and Burrows with Robbo don't seem to work as they aren't on the same wavelength in games.

Hopefully, Holding coming in at RCB will move Anel back to LCB where he and Burrows played best together, and Clarke and Holding can quickly form a partnership similar to Gilchrist and Souttar.

I'm willing to overlook the performances last week and this on the basis that half the team have never played together and we got the results that we needed.

The concern is there's little to no patterns of play besides passing it sideways and backwards and hoping Hamer pulls something off when we eventually get him near the oppositions box.

If there are any masochists that want to rewatch that game have a look how many times our midfielders and strikers receive the ball facing our own goal. It was practically all match it happened, nobody getting the ball facing their goal and moving forward with the ball and it's so easy to defend against.

The few times we did move it forward quickly and break the lines we looked dangerous but it's far too stop/start and it has been most of the season.

Needs to be some big improvements over the next 15 games or it's the dreaded play offs again

Totally on the manager
It wasn’t the manager who couldn’t pass the ball properly nor he who panicked each time Portsmouth .
Criticise him for selection or tactics but not for how poorly the players played today.

Looks like I am wrong !! He has abilities but gets caught in possession too often.
He is learning fast and will be good, but our best player ? Not yet.
Based on the past 3 or 4 performances, there's no one even close. Hamer maybe, but the rest of Wilders Galaticos are some way off the levels of energy, intensity and drive that he brings.

Thought Hamza did on, Vini looked a bit rusty still and BBD was a mission…not a mission the rest of the team were on but he seemed intent on taking someone out ( himself probably)
The pompey fans were on his back from the warm up, because of his time at Southampton, he finally snapped when he got booked, lost his focus after tgat

Energy, intensity and drive with him are not in question. Positive effects on the game are.
He is a good player, but today the other subs were equally,if not more so,effective.

Id argue your best player is the one who influences the narrative of a game, raises the performances of those around him and pulls you to results that you don't really deserve.

In recent weeks/months, Peck has been a large part on setting that narrative.

Without him, Wilders Championship Galaticos looked pretty shit....

Id take him over any amount of PL loans or South American prima donas!!

If Tufty isn't to lose the room, he'll quickly realise this too

Things I learned,

The bloke sitting in the South Stand Row B seat 126 or 127 was a fucking berk.

So much so it reminded me of that clip where the fella pulls down the hat of the other fan in front of him

Quotes;

"I f*cking hate Jack Robinson, he's never down owt for United" was one.

Another great was "f*ck off Wilder. F*cking Brewster, what a f*cking waste of time"

No word of a lie the fella went quiet when said waste of time set up the winner.

Some really take joy from us being shit haha

Hamer is one of the championships best central midfield players so why play him wide?

Why play two defensive midfield players to do the same job?

Why play with no wide forward players?

Why when we are winning and for the first time in the match does the manager change change to a back five and invite the opposition to attack?

Etc. etc.

We did, Cannon and Campbell up top which didn't work
That’s like saying you’ve got a car but no petrol so engines fooked.

We will not get a free flowing striker(s) unless they get the ball.

Unfortunately, Wilderball is only played in our last third and out wide than back inside to waiting midfielders and defenders. Any opposition manager worth their salt can work out our style of play and take advantage.

Fortunately for Wilder we have some quality players who can pull magic moments out to win games.

Alas those same players are like that car petrol engine in my analogy but filled with diesel, it just doesn’t work and we are not capable of going forward and dominating teams as we should be capable of.

Wilder coaches attractive attacking football out of players with his tactics (or lack of) and its moments of individual brilliance like today that gets him out of the sh!t

Things I learnt today - went in H block for the first time ever and was very surprised how few actually watch the game. Not just a few like you always get but probably 40-50% fucked off to the the bar when Pompey equalised, not to return till 10 minutes in to the second half, then fucked off again about half way through the second half.
