Na na na na na na na na na na nah, we've got Clarke & Sharp, Clarke & Sharp, we've got Clarke & Sharp.

Leon Clarke & Billy Sharp, bibbity bobbity boo, put em together what have you got! We've put 4 past you!

Really pleased we have a big man in up front. The fact he has a good scoring record is a bonus. I also think that both Sharpy and Sparky will be able to play off him. If Adams go, I wish him well although I would prefer to hold on to him although if it's between the two, I THINK I prefer DCL.

A 3 year contract for a 31 year old lower league journeyman, bought (possibly) at the expense of a 19 year old with significant potential - is one view, the other.....

A 3 year contract for a 31 year old proven lower league goal scorer with experience of getting teams promoted, bought (possibly) at the expense of an inconsistent 19 year old who may or may not fulfill his potential.

The choice is yours.

Can i go with the latter please?

Clarke explains how difficult it was leavening Bury...

“I found it difficult to tell the manager of my decision due to the tears of laughter rolling down my face. He really tried everything possible to keep me but my mind was made up, he's a bit of a dick, so the board simply told him to do one and took the cash, nice one, sorted.
I am now looking forward to next season with Sheffield United.”

Why are people moaning about a 3 year deal?

A) Mcabe said wages will be less with more incentives to gain promotion

B) we gave 'insert derogatory comment' J Wallace a 3 year deal!bamongst other useless twats

So who fucking cares that he's got a 3 year deal if it doesn't work he can go to Bury

I am just wondering how weird it would be, if McCabe didnt sell Che ........................

Even if he isn't a success, at least it lessens the probability of Bury FC doing the double over us again...

So we talk about needing players who can cut it at this level and it appears we have bought one. The rest really doesn't matter but hey, cue some little unhappy bitching somewhere. Deal too long, deal too short, he's too slow, he's not tall enough, he's only got a little knob.

On the face of it this is positive.

He is journeyman which ever way you look at it and one that is always looking for his next move.

Hopefully he scores enough goals to make it all worthwhile anyway.

I'd just like to say that I think Leon Clarke is a complete twat, but now he's our twat! :(

This is a mistake.

3 year deal for a player his age is daft at best.

Does anyone know what the fee was without me having to trawl through the thread?

I'm guessing we've overpaid too.

Underwhelming in the extreme.

I'll let you know after 45 mins of seeing him in a Blades shirt if he will go the same way as Henderson, Higdon & Sammon.

And a 3 yr deal is just bonkers. Will we ever learn.

Most of the bitching you're likely to see is this sort of bitching about people hypothetically bitching about something that in reality they're not even going to bitch about.

Just seen what his personal issues were. Father killed in a pub brawl New years eve - can see why he might have had time off for personal issues...

Have a neb at post #736 and #737 before you start waving nonsense opinions about (again)

Worth trusting Wilder on this one?

Two years back he brought in 32-year old Marc Richards to be Northampton's big man up top. Been top scorer both seasons he's been there and has scored better than one in two for Northampton, a far better rate than he'd ever achieved before anywhere else.

Not saying Clarke'll inevitably be so spectacularly successful. But the Richards signing was, as the proof shows, very impressive.

Clarke knew we wanted him, he was on a decent contract at Bury. He was in a strong bargaining position. Im presuming under the new wage structure he wont be on anything silly - so in my opinion it was worth giving him the extra year deal to get the deal sorted.

If he does what he has been doing then he will pay for himself.
