Wednesdayite in peace, Leon Clarke is as good as he wants to be, he can be frustrating but he's got power, pace, and knows where the net is! If any of you blades wanna know how good Leon Clarke can be, check out burnley 2 - 4 Wednesday, Leon was unplayable that day! Awesome on his day but can become disillusioned during games, but probably the best striker in league one right now!

Good signing IMO

Good luck for the season

FUCK OFF.

Footballers, like cars, get older, slower and sometimes more susceptible to break down.

Just because Clarkeinho scored fuckin' gazillions of goals five years ago, it ain't guaranteed he'll
do the same..

Wake up morons.
He scored quite a few last season though. And I'd happily swap my Focus for a vintage DB5.

I'm not getting carried away but Wilder so far is signing players that address the previous weaknesses we've had, by the sounds of it he's not finished yet. If 3 years for a proven striker at this level is the extent of the gamble then I think it's a worthwhile one. I certainly wish more established signings had been made in the transfer window of the Premiership instead of Fathi and Nade, we might be having conversations about where we were going on our European tour by now. Big up Tufty, keep it up son

Shelton?

Maybe it's the Higdon/Sammon effect, but my judgement, impeccable that it is, is sat in the reserved for now quarters.

And to any PIG contributing on here.

FUCK OFF
oink oink (that's pig for) shut the fuck up ya ugly cunt

Let's look at this from other teams point of view. I recon there are quite a few L1 defences looking at our Sharp and Clark partnership and thinking 'Oh Fuck!'
And it's been a few years since we have had a fearsome front line....Go get em boys and score a hatfull.

Our problem over the years hasn't been in giving people 3 year contracts – it's been giving them to the wrong people. Like people with a history of injury, or people on a high wage. Clarke will be neither. If he spends that 3rd year sat on his arse nowhere near the first team while watching us in the Championship then that's a risk I'm happy for us to take.

Part of the reason that Clarke's had so many clubs is because he requests loans to get first team football. If he's nowhere near our first team he'll be playing for someone else's; either on loan or permanently.

Let's fast forward to the pre-season of 2019/20...

Don't worry.

He'll have fucked off by then... his records show that he's not one for hangin' around.

One season at Coventry, Bury.. few seasons at other clubs with plenty of loan outs in between.

Three years here?

Whaddya reckon?

If we dont go up this season, he will be here next season, if we go up, he will leave in the Summer. Maybe back to bury.

Mate, if one of his seasons here results in promotion I'll be very happy. If another season results in consolidation in the Championship then I'll see that as a deal worth doing. We're so used to being Division 1 club that we need to shift that emphasis and start to see ourselves as a club worthy of far more than simple Division 1 survival. If bringing Clarke here contributes towards that feeling then it's a job well done.

We couldn't really have got much better for this league and especially if the reported fee of £100k is true. Looking forward to seeing him and Sharp up top.

That's true – he's not someone to sit back in the reserves. The pros of this far outweigh the negatives in my view.

Is Clarke our most important signing so far?

I'd like to think not. I hope we secure the services of a commanding and influential centre-half, and maybe we'll see a midfield player (possibly Fleck?) who'll orchestrate play and make us a genuine attacking threat. Then, and only then will we see a United who are viewed as a team of merit.
