Lets sign 14 random players and not sign proper positions.

Seriki not in squad
Shackleton wank never fit

Loans back;
Gilchrist
Clarke
Choudhury

I think not buying Choudhury at the end of last season was a mistake, ive got to admit that when he came and played cdm he frustrated me because he kept standing so close to the centre halfs leaving the midfield open, but after the first few games he really impressed me particularly when he was switched to rb

We've always have been piss poor in recruiting for positions we actually need.

Rb this season, we go with an inexperienced player that cant get into side, and a centerback who's out of form and career on verge of being finished.

CB last season (when soutter injured) we go with a DM and a shit striker

Joc - few seasons ago, go with a striker.

More recently our signings have being the wrong type of players - matos, Soumare & ings etc

Not buying an actual spine of the team after getting rid of it was the mistake, all round striker, proper cm, and cb (early doors), coupled with not buying a proper right back.

We've had three windows now to find a solution at right back and have permanent depth at centre back. Yet somehow we ended up scrambling for both positions and only really brought in one quality player..... Who we're now playing out of position.

Wilder has always been a bit weird with right backs, one of the first things he did was bomb out Brayford, then we ended up with two great options there for a few years, but he replaced them with not right backs (or absolute dross in the case of Clarke).

Our right back issue is easily solved, pick Seriki. We need other options there in the squad, but being the only proper right back in the squad should make him the first name on the team sheet. It was stupid when Selles dropped him for Godfrey who never looked comfortable there, it was even more stupid when Wilder excluded him from the squad entirely.

He then started to get obsessed with playing a CH from Trusty to Gilchrist to now. So continually we are supposed to be better defensively at right back, but with no attacking outlet down that side. Then when bringing on subs he'll put on a midfielder at right back.

At left back he does the complete opposite and will play more of a midfielder. Someone who is good attacking, but not so clever defensively.

Which means most of our attacks come down one side, which obviously gets spotted by the opposition.

Although yesterday pretty much everything went central and down the right, especially first half. Brooks was coming in very central, leaving only McCallum outwide and zero support or anyway to get him the ball in the attacking 3rd

Worryingly I think Wilder has fallen out with a few players. Not saying they don't deserve dropping for performance reasons but yesterday many seemed like they didn't give much of a fuck.

He's on huge wages and would also have cost a transfer fee. He did ok at RB last season but no way was he worth bringing back.
Surely there was better specialised RBs available.

Not easily solved as Seriki is not a reliable defensive RB. He should definitely be on the bench though, hopefully someone will ask CW at tomorrow's presser what the problem is with him.

Yesterday Seriki would have been an ideal option off the bench but instead we end up with Matsos
Ideal subs for yesterday would have been Seriki for McGuinness (to shift Tanganga to CB) and Matos for Peck.

Since Wilders return, Peck, Cooper and Tanganga have played the most minutes, they're never subbed off and always start.

So naturally when they are making mistakes, like Peck is, they have to just play on and can't get a rest when they're having a bad game, whereas others in the team do have that luxury, even though some of the backup options aren't up to it.

Burrows doesn't perform, McCallum replaces him, same with Soumare and Riedewald, Campbell and Ings/Cannon.

Take last season with Arblaster who was in the same situation that Peck is in right now, in the second season where you're expected to kick on, if Arblaster was having a bad game, Peck stepped in.

With the roles now reversed and Arblaster injured, if Peck has a bad game, who steps in to replace him during the match?

Quite how we've gone from Freeman/Baldock to Baldock/Bogle to a string of "not-quite centre backs/not quite midfielders/definitely not right backs" - I have no idea

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. One of the best opposition performers at BL last season was a right back who was available for transfer this summer for a reasonably low fee. The team who purchased sit top of the league. His name is Kaine Kesler-Hayden.
And he has hardly played as we have MVE who is arguably the best RB in the Championship. You will see him involved in just about everything including attacks and taking all throw ins anywhere near the penalty area.
