The media like bringing his name up for any jobs.

Would chris take the money. They are practically relegated. But they will have parachute money an excellent championship squad next year and he could easily double his salary, and not have to move home. Just saying lol

Joking apart, whoever takes the job can’t lose. They’ll probably feel that they’re more or less relegated so for me they can sort of take the shackles off, a bit like Man Utd have done under OGS. Man Utd couldn’t win the league and looked out of a top 4 finish not long back but it just shows what can happen when you feel like the weight has been lifted, the pressure is off, you express yourself and play with freedom.

The only problem with the above is that I doubt there is currently someone out there who can install those things into the group of players at Huddersfield now. A long shot of someone who fits the bill is Danny Cowley but it’s not fashionable to appoint someone like that in the Premier league which is embarrassing and a sad indictment of the state of football in general.

It's a very strange job for anyone to consider.

I've got a lot of time for Huddersfield. The way they went up and the wave they rode was a joy to watch for most football fans. Let's be honest; they're not a club you find easy to hate.

But they've had their time now. It's what they do with the TV money and the parachute payments which will define their club. The romance is dead and I'm not sure they have the nous to bounce back regardless of who they recruit to replace Wagner (cracking manager).

Most managers would be crazy not to take it basically got a free hit at half a season in the prem nearly then parachute payments if you stay on.
Great job for any championship manager to take apart form our Chris

The state of the bottom end of the Premier League this season though, Allardyce with a striker in the JTW might save them.

Palace, Burnley, Soton nowhere near comfortable, Newcastle looking awful, Cardiff just about scraping by, Fulham headless chickens. Not that many points in it, an unbeaten run of a few games with a couple of wins in it would change the bottom end a lot. Even Bournemouth could end up nearer the bottom three than the top 6 if their form doesn't pick up soon.

Allardyce would seriously risking his record though.

I can think of a number of reasons this won't happen

Lössl, Hadergjonaj, Jorgensen, Schindler, Durm, Kachunga, Mbenza, Mounie, Depoitre, Kongolo, Lowe, Stankovic to name a few

And that’s where Wagner has killed them. He’s woken up and realised he’s assembled a poor disjointed squad that lacks quality and has little resale value and walked away from it. He’s been allowed to do it by the club, and they’re about to see the effects.

The Huddersfield job will be a good one to take in the summer, in the championship.

Chief executive Julian Winter is known to be a fan of Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder but no approach has yet been made. He will be mad to leave now to join Huddersfield.

I think it's fair to say, most chairmen are a fan of CW. Playing entertaining football and winning games that take you towards the top of the league, by assembling a squad to do it for relatively little cost is always a head turner

Huddersfield are a League one club in waiting... No Chance.
My thoughts exactly. Worked the loan market very well and got up. Signed a few of said loan players. Stayed up due to there being 3 worse teams and are now heading back down. Big wage bill, not a very attractive club, will likely do a Swansea or Stoke.

To be fair there’s 12 teams in the Premier League all waiting to get relegated. One bad transfer window and your back down.

This will be us in 1 year's time. (Relegation from the Prem looming, but hopefully not managerless). I'm totally prepared for it. Although, I hope Wilder will remain to take us down and bring us back up again.

Good old Blacky.

I still maintain that if he had won against Burnley he would have kept us in the top flight, playing an unasthetically pleasing but successful style of football.

It is also swiftly forgotten that he kept our heads above water despite having to slash the wage budget, sell his best players, and when he left the wheels completely and utterly fell off.

He was a lot better manager than people credited him for.

Relegation from the prem can be the making of a club if they manage the pot of gold cleverly. Too many go for the spunkin' moneh approach and come a cropper in the first or second season after promotion, before paying for it a long time afterwards. I would go as far as to say, becoming a yo yo club is the first step to becoming an established premier league club. There's not man clubs without major backing who go up and then establish themselves for for medium term. I always think of West Brom and Burnley as good examples of this approach.

If he was that good a manager, he would still be in management, or at least had some success.

He isn't and he hasn't.

You need a manager and chairman that are realistic. These days chairmen are that shit scared of relegation once they're up there, loyalty goes out of the window and managers get sacked.

Dyche at Burnley is an example of it working if there's a good understanding and relationship between the board and the manager. They haven't got any delusions about where they deserve to be in the football pyramid.
