I won't mention which rag for fear of a backlash ( ) but suggest Wilder will be offered a long term contract before the new season starts.

Looks like there's an error in the last line of the article as it suggests ahead of the 2016/2017 season which of course should read 2017/2018 season

We need to make sure we pay him a Championship salary. That's the first thing.

He's obviously earned a longer contract, but not sure how relevant it is in todays football world. I don't think length of contract will bother CW.

2 yrs, 3 yrs, 4 yrs? He'll leave when he feels he's ready to leave regardless of contract length and it wouldn't surprise me if he stipulates a clause in his contract to allow him to speak to clubs if the opportunity arises

The othe rside of the coin is would the board want to give him a 5yr/10yr contract. Think of the compo due if CW eventually got the sack? The club have been stung before, would they want to experience that again?

I've always maintained, the most important decision a board can make is the choice of Manager. Get that right and most other things tend to fall into place. Get it wrong and I give you the previous 5 years
