Wilder has got a total win percentage over 707 games of 42.7 which is less than Adkins 44 percent over 457 games.

So that errr means erm, well he at least should be slightly worse than our current manager? o_O

thing is hes improving every year
adkins is getting worse

chris is 48 per cent this year to adkins 40

If Wilder hadn't played for us about fifteen years ago nobody would want him. He's a nobody with a bang average history as a manager. He might have known "the club" back when he played for us, but things have changed. We need success next season and I don't see why he's suddenly the best man to provide that.

I'd rather stick with Adkins or go for Turkish Keegan than plump for Micky Adams mk II.
Ooh ta, that saved me writing the same thing.

One important factor in Wilder's favour if we appoint him is that he actually understands the club. The last two managers haven't. Being a Blade is secondary.

We should also be able to avoid delays with player recruitment because he should know what's needed and will have knowledge of players in the sort of places we've been looking, certainly League Two.

He wouldn't be my first choice appointment but he certainly wouldn't be my last, and after what's happened with Adkins you simply couldn't predict with any certainty how he'd fare so we'd just have to let him get on with it and find out.

Do you think he does though?
He last had anything to do with the club 1999.

I think so, he is a Blade and has mainly lived in Sheffield as far as I'm aware. He'll be far more aware than most other potential managers of the character and demands of the supporters, what's gone wrong for the club in the past and what needs to change.

He's been managing teams since he was 19, took Oxford into the football league before taking over at Northampton who were 6 points adrift of safety to league 2 champions with room to spare.

So he's a Blade from Sheffield who actually played for the club he loves but that doesn't make him a Mickey Adams mk2 does it. He can't be labled a loser now can he and he can't be any worse than our present team motivator.

Wilder can rebuild in the summer and lose two games in August without too much hassle unless they are Gillinghamish.

Adkins can rebuild in the summer but lose two games in August and we have another Blackwell situation on our hands.

Madness to keep him now.

If the board don't get rid of Jose Baxter, he'll get worse and worse.

Maybe, could also be the next Eddie Howe?

Thats the problem we dont really know
Im not against Wilder coming in hes an unknown quantity in this League there again Adkins CV in this League could not be bettered but hes had some crap players to put with

Are you really interested what the Grunters are about
Wilder is also a fan and used to attend games his connection with the Blades didnt end in 1999

No just making the point.
I agree though, Wilder would have a better idea of what United is about.

Adkins to learn his fate today according to the Stir

What's the betting he already knows?

Think the toxic atmosphere created by Adkins performance, his disparaging remarks about fans and McCabes disparaging remarks about Adkins makes it almost impossible for a status quo next season.
Just hope for once we act quickly in appointing someone and giving them the necessary to build a squad early and not wait until the last minute for whatever's left over in August then hoping we will be there or there abouts at Christmas and rely on JTW.
It would be nice to see us try and take this league by storm.

I can definitely see the positives for Wilder as manager and if Adkins quit then I'd support going for Wilder. BUT we have a manager who is on a decent contract.

So if we add up the compensation we'd have to pay Northampton and Adkins, what we talking? £500k minimum? I'm just guessing, but it's gotta be decent money at league one level.

I just don't see Wilder as much of an improvement on Adkins (if any at all) so I'd rather we spend the money on the team rather that a new manager.

Suspect compo for Adkins and staff would be comfortably north of £1,000,000

It really is a 50/50 but would you really let Adkins sign some players and players talk. Who would want to join him?

Let me chuck in another Curveball. Rob Page. McCabe wanted to give him the job when it finally went to Weir but bottled it because he thought the fans would go mental.
Good shout, a cheaper option, and an ex player, think this could be the direction the club head in.

Still Adkins for me though.

Adkins' Blades win percentage is a stonking 41.5%, which puts him behind Wilder. :):)

Adkins' record here is the 9th best, about equal with Kendall.

Football Mojo and confidence gone. Can't think of any way out of this league other than. 12 month turnaround plan with you know who. But then again I thought Clough and Adkins were the best thing to happen to us and look how that worked out.
Not confident if we appoint Wilder so maybe it's the reverse answer to our problems. I just don't feckin know, but I still care :(
