This lad sums up all that had been good about this season. Passion, effort and pride. Been absolutely fantastic since November. Well done Chris, you've done yourself and the club proud!! UTB!!
Chris Basham has been superb this season, epitomises the season for me, desire, passion, skill, winning mentality, and obviously a vital link in an excellent team. Most enjoyable season I can remember.

playing in the back three with license to move into midfield and up attacks when required has certainly revitalised him. He was never a midfielder because his passing is shocking but boy can he put a shift in

Thought he was brilliant today. His decision making is second to none, never jumps in when he doesn't have to, knows when to pass it out of the back or get it cleared, seems to be playing comfortably in second gear a lot of the time
Great man along with Jake Wright to help our young defenders develope

He looked uncertain in the last 2 seasons, but you could see he'd got ability, who could forget the 'cruyff turn' v Southampton. Most of the time, the game seemed to pass him by or you got the impression he didn't want the ball.

Even this season, before Christmas, he wouldn't have been my first choice as I didn't think he was either a convincing midfielder or a defender. However since then, he's been tremendous and is probably one of the first names on the team sheet. Credit must go to the coaching staff and the player himself for turning it round. I always think that a lot of the time, 'it's in the head' and at the moment he's consistently oozing confidence with the way he plays with conviction rather than the ungainly, uncertain player of before.

He appears to be a model professional too, you can't imagine him getting caught with his pants down in a seedy hotel room or getting into scuffles in nightclubs.

Let's hope he can carry this forward to the Championship.

Well done Chris, you deserve that pint!

I have always said he should be our Captain but then Billy came along. His decision making this season has been better than any other player. To me, since he came into the club he has given everything that he could. Almost a perfect professional. Did he have more than a pint;)

I agree he had a great game and has had a superb season too, but does anyone else think 'Tony Adams' when you see him running forward with the ball?

I'd written off last season as 'a trier, but not good enough'. Off to the Humble pie shop then.......

Been awesome since November after he lost his place

Even that comment needs clarifying. He only lost his place due to being suspended for taking a red card for the team. Personally I can't wait to see him put a couple of his trademark tackles in against the pigs next year and see the fairy shit himself.

Same thoughts here.

Basham also deserves huge credit because he stepped up to the plate after EEL got his new contract with Wolves and took his foot of the peddle. EEL has since realised this and has upped his game a lot towards the end of the season, this was due to all the defenders, especially Basham.

Basham has been very good at what he's good at. His first touch is in question at times when under no pressure at all but that's my only gripe with him really. He's improved immensely under Chris Wilder like so many players and has changed my thoughts as a footballer on him, top bloke.

Chris gave his time freely to everyone in the Red Lion, posed for umpteen selfies and had a quiet drink with his Dad. Model professional and a credit to his club.

Kev gave us all a wave from the back of his motor whilst stuck in traffic outside the Sentinel too, but studiously avoided all requests to come and get a round in.

He certainly covered a lot of ground yesterday, both in the game and after ;)

Well done big man, you've been smashing!

Its funny but before a ball had been kicked Wilder said no more square pegs in round holes, a dig at last season, and yet basham, a midfielder has been one of the most consistent players all season, last year when midfielder bashams name was on the team sheet we moaned, now as a centre half he is most fans first names on the team sheet, you never know sometimes who is going to do it

I believe some players....in fact most players are generally more than capable of playing more than one position.
Bash has always for me been a centre half capable of doing a job in midfield. Bash says he prefers midfield but if you want a bit of quality it ain't for him...however at times when more energy and destruction is required, he's just the job.
