Basham must think he’s living the dream.

A player who, at best was average league 1 standard playing in a mid table league 1 team
3 years later, he’s one of the better players in the Championship playing in a team deservedly Premier League bound.
Seems impossible but Chris Wilder has this rare ability to make the impossible seem possible.

As I've said on the other thread, I see no reason why he shouldn't now be considered for the England squad.

Would you want him, Stones or Keane? Easy answer for me.

one of their pacy forwards ran aftrr the ball toward the kop and was gobsmacked when bash comfortably kept up with him.. tbf so was i

In pre-season during the bleep testing someone called Bash a Freak (in the nicest way) due to his fitness. Genuine question - could anyone in world football do the job he does?

Been saying for a few seasons that he is the fittest player I have ever seen turn out for us. The lad's engine is simply immense.

Very ineffective today. Young Reed showed him up a treat! ! I'd never seen the lad play before today but was certainly expecting a lot more especially after all this talk of how well we did to get him to drop down a division to sign for us!!! I'm sure and certainly hope he'll improve! !!

I'm sure you expected him to improve this much ;)

Not at the minute we don't, given the four months of static we're currently living in, with no end in sight! But yes, I take your point.

All those who said Basham would be the first they would replace if we went up can fuck off. But I said I’d replace Baldock so I can fuck off as well.
that's me who can fuck off then along with many others I suspect. Delighted to have been so wrong and that he's got a new deal till 22

Another thing I never expected was that he only got 4 yellow cards and Baldock only got 7. I thought these two would have spent half the season suspended.

I recall him at Swindon when we got beat in the Autumn and recalling he just couldn’t head the ball.. I had me doubts.

But he nearly ( very nearly ) made me cry at Leeds with the arriving goal. The tension and how we had been up against it, their wankers to our right giving Deano abuse and then he did that! One of my top five Blades emotional feelings...

And for that feeling I love him. Well done Bash!

One of a long line of Blades heroes whose performances are in direct contrast to their slightly awkward appearance on the pitch , starting from my perspective with Cec Coldwell .

Of all that long line of such players , Mr.Basham is my no.1 and someone who will be remembered with great affection and even reverence for many years to come .
