Right, so it's not a scientific poll but it proves the point I wanted to make

Less than 10% object to his signing on a moral stand

Yes it's split 60/40 say 50/50 for arguments sake

What signing doesn't split opinion, I bet Sharp was similar and Clarke.

In fact probably the most agreed upon signing I can think of was brayford and look how that panned out.

Seems to me it's the vocal minority causing the rift here.

I wouldn't read too much into the poll if it's a general Blade sentiment you are looking for . The majority of Blades will support this move .

Also, as the rift is only perceived, the people who don't want him because of the rift will have nothing to worry about so that's another 20% in favour.

Nothing to see here.

The polls on here don't represent the majority of Blades in the big bad world only the majority of users of an Internet site .
It's a good a sample base as anywhere.

I'm not disagreeing with you anyhow

No on football reasons is irrelevant.

It's only the same as with any other signing, and surely the trust in Wilder ultimately has to override any football based doubts.

As for any other reason, there isn't one on which to base a strong stance against him returning. He should be treated just like any other player.

So although it might be divisive, there's no reason it should be in any way toxic or damaging.

Vote count at moment showing a total of 118% in favour of the options.
Now that's what I call 'rounding up'
I opened it up for more than 1 answer p/p.

That's weights it oin the favour if the nos but that wasn't the point of the poll

Suspect many who have voted "I am happy" are assuming Wilder is on board with this, might not be the case, stranger things happen, I'll wait til I hear it from him.

Also, as the rift is only perceived, the people who don't want him because of the rift will have nothing to worry about so that's another 20% in favour.

That's an interesting jump in logic you got yourself there, champ.

Trust Wilder.

No moral issue to speak of.

500k is ridiculous - we don't owe Chesterfield compensation.

I've got no doubt this has been brought about by legal matters. No way is this just a football decision.

But football wise it could work out very well.

If we were going to sign him it should've been while we were in L1.

Absolutely shocking timing. It will detract from the attention our team and management deserve.
Showing yet again that the ultimate lords of the fuck up are Sheffield United.

Rank and file Dronnie ? Just the overwhelming majority of Blades everywhere who don't use this site . No pejorative meaning intended .
So by inference, you agree with LondonRoad in that it's the unsilent minority making the most noise about this ?

Didn't he get a one year deal at Chezzy
He should be a free agent if so

If he was free by the way I'd take a chance on him

If he's been on a one year at chessie and so a free in the summer why the 500k, doesn't make sense if he's a free agent.

It's usually the way isn't it. Minority spoiling for the majority.
I'm all for it.

The imminent shitstorm so widely predicted will last 24-48 hours. Tops.

Agreed .

The only slight concern I have in all of this is based solely on footballing matters . Can Ched rediscover the talent he undoubtedly had after so long out of the game ?

There's one thing I'm absolutely certain of though . If any manager can get him flying again it's Chris Wilder .

It's not a bad punt by the Club for me . It could turn out to be very good business indeed .

He extended his contract in January to run to the end of next season. I've gone with option 1, but with two caveats: that this decision hasn't been made without consulting Wilder (surely McCabe couldn't be that stupid?); and that £500k is either bollocks or, if true, less than 10% of the total budget for acquisitions.

Why is everyone bringing up the crap about what he's done this year!?
The man's been wrongly locked away for years, he's left prison after finally being found NOT GUILTY!, that's NOT GUILTY!!!!
and tried to get back to doing his job. Now, if any of you thought/think he should've been able to walk straight onto the pitch and play 40 games without any fitness issues or injury then, I'm sorry, but your ridiculous.
It took him 2 seasons to settle in and get back to his level when he joined us, but the third season he made us, it was just unfortunate to have that happen to him, and we were unfortunate to lose him at such a crucial time.
Just think, if he'd finished the season with us, would he have scored 40-45?? That's incredible!!!
Everyone sings Billys praise's and he hasn't hit 30 yet.
I'm sorry if your offended or, for whatever reason, upset or mad about this, but, how can any of you question the management on this decision!! why would you!?
I for one think CW and AK, after this season, have the God given right to sign any player they think will make Sheffield United a better and bigger force next season, none of us can question what they have done at and for our wonderful club, Wilder is one of us, he's sees what we see, he feels what we feel, but he knows alot more than any of us, how to manage a football team, and he's proved that on more than one occasion!!!!
So, my hats off to everyone at Bramall lane, I'm sure there will be majority support for this decision also, especially for those of us that don't give a toss about stories in papers, and actually only care about what's best for our club.
Good move in my eyes, Wilder will soon whip him into shape, and the possibility of 3 20+ a season strikers at the club is absolutely mouthwatering!!

He signed a new one year deal in Jan. It's irrelevant though as it is for any player. It's just a contractual clause to ensure the selling club get more money if/when they leave.

If he's been on a one year at chessie and so a free in the summer why the 500k, doesn't make sense if he's a free agent.
He Signed a 1 yr extension in january purely to give him a resale value. A bit like wolves and EEL so he is not a free agent. Hes 28 so he wont have a resale value for us im unsure on this deal. he played well against us for chessie at only 70% fit. I dunno gonna have to trust Wilder on this I guess
