£500k is nothing in the Championship and IF we can get to back to half the player he was in his final 6 months with us he will be a massive player for us next season. In Wilder we Trust.
UTB

He couldn't even do it in L1 this year.

OT: We have just had the greatest season in some people's living memory and we no want to undermine this by dragging this up again.

It's a no from me jeff.

Difficult one this, I've been a Fan of Cheds and felt he should have signed for us following his release and subsequent successful appeal. However I think we as a club have undoubtably moved on and had a truly memorable season.I don't feel he can add anything at this stage but in CW I trust, I was against getting rid of Che, and opposed Brayfords loan move, bit of egg on face!
I don't worry one jot about being in The Championship, our squads strong we've romped the league and have cash in the bank.
Wish Ched luck, but it's a No from me!

it's a yes from Chris tho Jeff

What about the option
YES for moral reasons?

An innocent man has wrongly spent years in prison losing his livelihood and Welsh international career.

I'm a compassionate man and hope he finds success wherever he went. He's suffered enough and if anything needs support due to being innocent of any crime.

IMO I don't think he is good enough. However if CW and AK do think he is good enough then I am happy with that and will support him like any other United player.

I for understand the moral issue. He is guilty of cheating on his partner. A relatively large percentage of the country have done that. Is it right? Probably not. IMO It shouldn't affect your employment though.

Yes, for football reasons. Ok, I jest, but the polls a bit skewed? Better to get it done now so he can have a big pre season with us.

Must admit I find the timing rather bizarre - why not just wait until after Sunday, add to that the fact we are playing HIS current team then, just bizarre.

Having said that, one man understands more than anyone about this whole business, the whys and wherefors is CW - in Chris I absolutely trust, so it's an o.k. from me. But it does sit a little uneasy, the divisions are already obvious amongst fans on this site.

I think this will prove to be a very good signing. He has something to prove and Chris Wilder knows better than us

I trust Wilder. But don't think he's right for us for footballing reasons. Happy for Wilder to prove me wrong.

I've a horrible feeling Wilder hasn't gone to Kev and Price and said "Get me Ched".

Think its more likely some kind of gentleman's agreement when he did his appeal.

Wilder will handle it.

Good idea getting the signing done and dusted now, season ending, look forward to a new chapter in the Championship with maybe one or two new faces along with Cheds.

He'll leave the field with Chezzie players the come back out in a Blades shirt for the trophy presentation snd lap of honour

I will start with the fact I have reservations over it, but as devils advocate about his quality if we pull out some threads about Ched a month before he was sent down I bet theres not much doubt offered about his ability to score when we went up that season among the posts
He was laude and at that time quite rightly as a top forward and the general thoughts were hed score no problem in a winning team

Again he hasnt scored in this calendar year , not caring about his time at Chesterfield I dont begin to understand why this has occurred , but chesterfield have been dreadful and hes missed a lot through "niggles"

No for football reasons. We probably have room for one more striker in the squad unless we're dumping a couple of the current ones. Whoever we bring in up front should be a quality player who can be a regular starter and a clear improvement on what we've got. Ched Evans is a mediocre League 1 striker who has shown nothing to suggest he can step up to Championship level next season.

Innocent or not, dragging up all the past by re-signing him is unnecessary, but if you ignore his past, half a million for an unremarkable player from a side that got relegated is a very poor piece of business.

its a no from me on football reasons. very rarely works 2nd time around. having said that if anyone can get him firing and working his ass off it will be wilder/knill. just feel there is so many players out there we didnt have to go down this road

Maybe the timing has been forced?
Maybe from someone within the club??

I know for some it's an outright no and that's fair enough, but seem's a lot of people think £500k is too much, I agree...how about £150k + add on's?

Trust Wilder.

No moral issue to speak of.

500k is ridiculous - we don't owe Chesterfield compensation.

I've got no doubt this has been brought about by legal matters. No way is this just a football decision.

But football wise it could work out very well.

If we were going to sign him it should've been while we were in L1.

Absolutely shocking timing. It will detract from the attention our team and management deserve.

No, no, no, please don't be true and just when the season was going so well.

My only objection is on footballing grounds, he's now a useless has been, but I know several fans who don't want him for other reasons and have said they will refuse to go and support utd if he comes back. If representative could cause a significant issue. Why would any sane person do this for so little gain, must be a wind up.

Wasn't sure about this. A year ago we were desperate to get out of this league and we saw Ched as the possible answer, if he could rediscover his previous form when he was with us. A good first half performance against us earlier this season made us sit up and take notice, but my concern is that he now seems a bit injury prone. If Chris thinks he is the right man then I will go with that. Evans has the ability, we will see how it pans out.

Right, so it's not a scientific poll but it proves the point I wanted to make

Less than 10% object to his signing on a moral stand

Yes it's split 60/40 say 50/50 for arguments sake

What signing doesn't split opinion, I bet Sharp was similar and Clarke.

In fact probably the most agreed upon signing I can think of was brayford and look how that panned out.

Seems to me it's the vocal minority causing the rift here.
