better than we have? if so get rid of hendo!!

Think this would be a pretty good signing.

I think all the right names are flying about and hopefully this one will happen.

I'm glad we have names flying about, its funny here as Wolves don't even have names flying about lol, fans are starting to stress. Not one signing yet, i'm going to enjoy watching them next season hehe :D

Manchester Evening News reporting that they've turned down a bid from us...

CITY have turned down a £1.5m bid from Sheffield United for 20-year-old striker Ched Evans.

The Wales international was expected to be one of the victims of the cull which manager Mark Hughes is planning - to make room for his summer signings.

But City's rejection of the bid from the Championship play-off finalists is a sign of intent that they will not let their Academy success stories go for peanuts. Up to 16 players are expected to be axed from the squad in the summer, but both Hughes and the club's owners are keen not to strangle the steady supply of talent from the youth system.

The Rhyl-born striker has scored once in 16 first-team games for the Blues and has established himself as a regular in John Toshack's Wales squad.

But he will drop down the pecking order at Eastlands if the Blues forge ahead with their attempts to buy Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez next week. And the possible signing of Samuel Eto'o, which the Blues are hoping will be the cherry on their cake later in the summer, would further restrict Evans' chances.

The Blades were in for Evans during the winter transfer window, but the waters of a possible deal were muddied when Celtic also expressed an interest.

Bids for Santa Cruz and Tevez are imminent, but City are not expected to go for Portsmouth's England right-back Glen Johnson.

I don't see why City shouldn't let him go. I'm sure he'll want to play regular first team football. And if City do manage to sign Tevez, then I'm sure he'll be out the door.

I don't think we'll wait around for him though...

Sheffield United
SHEFFIELD United will hope to unveil Lee Williamson and Ched Evans as their first new signings of the close season this week before pressing ahead with talks aimed at securing John-Joe O'Toole's release from Watford.
Republic of Ireland under-21 international O'Toole, a teammate of Williamson's at Vicarage Road, was the subject of a bid from Kevin Blackwell's side on Wednesday, but officials at the Hertfordshire club rejected United's opening offer, believed to be around £500,000.

Blackwell opted to move for O'Toole, who enjoyed a succesful spell on loan at Bramall Lane last term, despite seeing injury rule him out of the Championship play-off final against Burnley.

With Malkay Mackay's appointment as Watford's new boss expected to be ratified within the next 48 hours, Blackwell is expected to return with an improved offer shortly.

Mackay's predecessor Brendan Rodgers had elected to sell the 20-year-old.

Newcastle were also monitoring O'Toole's situation, but the turmoil behind the scenes at St James' Park means they are unlikely to follow up their enquiry.

However MacKay could decide to keep the combative midfielder, forcing Blackwell to consider other options.

A price for Williamson, who had spells at Mansfield and Northampton before leaving Rotherham with Will Hoskins for a combined £1.2 million fee, is understood to have been agreed.

But United, perhaps mindful of the problems they endured during Brian Howard's protracted switch from neighbours Barnsley in October have refused to comment on claims a deal for the winger has already been completed.

Blackwell is also chasing Wales striker Evans after failing to prise him away from Manchester City in January.

City boss Mark Hughes is believed to have rejected United's opening approach of £1.5m.

United coach Gary Speed will hold talks with Swansea about their managerial vacancy this week.

When this article gets reported on the Blades web site does it mean anything, or is it just filler?

Usually the blades website is the last place anything is posted, seems to me that it's run by one bloke working 1 hour a week. Websites useless lol. I only use it for conformation of confirmed news lmao!

He's a young international with premiership experience. How people can on one hand say that offers for Naughton are desultory, and then on the other expect other teams to part with their own academy players for peanuts, makes me laugh. Just because City are loaded doesn't mean that their unwanted players should be undervalued. Personally, I think £3m is a bit much, but I think that £1.5m is a bit of a low offer for him and I'd be surprised if we don't get him for about £2m.

I agree with Matt,

I think £3 million for a player with limited experience is a bit much for the Blades. But maybe not for someone who are a bit more flush with the cash.... a lower echelon team in the PL.

He is a striker that I believe would be a good asset with a good age.

And yes, because it is Man City, we shouldn't expect a knock down price. However I'd personally go back with the £1.5 million offer plus some good clauses in there for goals/appearances/promotion/sell on clause.

According to the NOTW - Newcastle want Ched Evans

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/football/391177/SHEARER-DOUBLE-SWOOP.html

ALAN SHEARER has this week made his first move as Newcastle's manager-in-waiting by lining up a double swoop for strikers Ched Evans and Fraizer Campbell.

he has set the wheels in motion to land Manchester City forward Evans.

The 20-year-old struggled for opportunities at Eastlands last season but bagged 10 goals in 20 starts during a loan spell at Norwich and Shearer wants that kind of physical presence in his front line. He believes he could land the pair for less than £10million.

However, Shearer's annoyance at the length of time it is taking to sort out the club ownership is rising and he has been forced to ask his targets to wait.

We need to go for this! Otherwise he's going to get snapped up by someone else. Just like many other failed signings

I think he'd be a good signing for us, but I wouldn't be prepared to pay anything over £2m for him, as I don't think he's worth that much at this stage in his career.

Blades boss still keen on Evans

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has said he remains confident of signing Welsh international striker Ched Evans from Manchester City.

The Blades had an initial offer rejected for the 20-year-old.

Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We're still monitoring the situation. Manchester City know we're interested and our bid is on the table.

"City have only just returned for pre-season and we are now waiting for them to decide what happens next."

Blackwell is trying to strengthen his squad for another shot at promotion to the Premier League, after narrowly missing out in the play-off final against Burnley in May.

The Blades have had bids accepted for Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe and the Watford pair of Tommy Smith and John-Joe O'Toole, while former Crystal Palace and Birmingham winger Julian Gray is having a trial at Bramall Lane.

hmmmmz, any mileage now they've signed Tevez and he's about 17th choice striker?

Adebayor if he goes, RSC, Tevez, Jo (although he's out on loan), Robinho is available to play there, Bojinov, Caceido and Bellamy are probably all above him in the pecking order. That makes him the 7th choice striker that Manchester City own contracts with currently.

Some more CCC clubs are in for him now then?

That throws us out of the window then.

Ched Evans certainly has potential but I really believe we need a proven '20 goal per season' forward. Lets hope any funds generated from sales will turn into a class forward and maybe even a star midfielder!! I can live in hope!!
