Nice to see Che back in action today for the u21's, bizarre that he is risked 24 hours after the Bradford game though? Was he not fit for a late cameo yesterday? Either way we got a point and hopefully Che can get through this without issue and is fit for the next first team game.

Another one is Coutts who returns from injury for the game down in Cardiff tonight. Part of a very strong team.

Looks like Adkins wants to address his defensive options after yesterdays poor display at the back? Mr Physio bench himself is starting as well as McGahey.

Blades: Long, Phillips, K. Wallace, Dimaio, Kennedy, McGahey, Scougall, Coutts, Adams, De Girolamo, McFadzean.
Subs: Khan, Eastwood, Whiteman, Evans, McDonagh.

James Wallace ? he must be the slowest healer in history is he related to Darren Anderton ?

What's happened to him? (Or is it best just not to ask?)

From a minor muscle injury, the sort you always encounter when coming back from injury, it's turning into his latest Collins-style long-term "calf strain".

Feel sorry for the guy, but I've joined the ranks of those who see him as a total write-off now, as someone who just doesn't feature at all in our plans going forward.

My patience with him and Kennedy went a long time ago. We are paying probably very decent (better than most at this level I would guess) wages for 2 players who barely play and if they do they are then out for a few weeks. Both has shown they are an improvement when they play on what we have but sadly they rarely play.

We need to look at settlements to move both on as soon as possible. That may seem harsh but sentiment and retention of ordinary joes like Flynn, Collins etc has seen us stagnate and stay stuck in this division for 5 years.

I cannot wait until the end of season when we can move on 15+ out of contract players and Adkins can bring in his own quality players....akin to the likes of Woolford. I'll get my coat, my wooly coat.

What has happened to Flo Cuvelier? Is he injured or just no where near consideration?

When are Done, Harris and Brayford scheduled to return to training/U21 action?

These 3 players will be massive for us.

Done light training but non contact. Be around 2-3 weeks away before he gets through contact and plays an u21 game. Expect him to be in contention around mid October
Harris I think is also back in training I heard so he could be the same but I think a bit longer as his was leg injury as opposed to shoulder with Done. Hoping he might be back towards end of October.

Brayford is running but is not in full training. Do not expect to see him till maybe end of November/early December due to type of injury.

All 3 would start for me even though Harris had a poor end to the season. Done I would play either wide, as a three or up front if Sammon's patchy form continues. I think his work rate and intensity will improve things massively and think he and Sharp could work well together.

Brayford will go back right back but that may mean Freeman having to play wide or even left back.

Add these 3 + another centre back and a hard man, leader in midfield and we will improve a lot I feel.

Most are meant to be back next month, I thought.

I think everyone's just written him off now, haven't they? When does his contract expire? The sooner the better :(

Another that needs his contract settling. He has contributed even less than Wallace and Kennedy. Signed over 2 years ago he has played 10 games. He came with a reputation from loan spells but I am not exagerraring when I say I have not seen him have one good game (only 10 to choose from) at SUFC.

Carrying passengers all over the squad. Earning very good money too to do nothing. Many should be ashamed of their contribution last few seasons and blame everything but themselves (different managers, tactics, formation) etc. At this awful level if they were any good they would be showing it.

I have to agree at this level we can't afford to carry passengers. Granted they are better players than what we currently have in the first team but whats the point if they are always injured and we see them play once in a full moon.

This would be my offload list at the end of the season:

Kennedy
Coutts
Wallace
Flo
Higdon
McFadzean
Long
Collins
Alcock
Woolford
McEveley

I think most of them are out of contract anyway.

I wouldn't have thought either Wallace or Kennedy are on big money. Unless we're even more inept than I thought, I'd have expected Wallace's contract to have a high proportion of appearance related wages.
Kennedy's never had a decent run in the first team so is probably still on terms similar to his first contract.

But it is disappointing, if they can't stay fit enough to hold a first team place, or at least on the bench, we can't keep them.

Its what you define as not being on big money . Whatever the figure is , if you add them together , you would have a good salary for , IMO a good quality player for league 1 level.

I suspect Wallace will actually be on decent money for a league one player. I seem to recall Clough saying there were some championship teams interested in him at the time. I'm staggered we offered him more than a one year contract with his injury record but as I said above this was possibly due to interest from other clubs. Do feel sorry for the lad as he does have some talent but he may as well retire as he simply won't ever manage more than 10 games a season.

I take it you didn't watch the Southampton game then Db?

Why retire when he can make a living off clubs like Sheffield United, who like to pay people for the sake of it.

That conversation my mate had in the car park with Jim, this also cropped up too.

I wasn't there and I don't know the exact wording but I think he is (obviously) aware that we have a big (in numbers if not height ) and expensive squad that is not providing value for money. It is also currently restricting our ability to do business.

Well apparently all three of the players that we are asking questions about have scored this evening. Hendo in the chatbox says Che Adams scored a cracker, Coutts scored a pen and then young Kennedy just scored a header from a corner.

Che was subbed at half time, I would hopefully imagine that this is more due to the fact that he's been ill and could only manage 45 minutes or that we are breaking him in gently and saving him for the next first team game.

Long

.

Harsh that. Not only does he dive to his left and to his right, he also shags ten birds a night you know.

Who is the big central defender who captained us against Wednesdays under 21s? His name escapes me but it doesn't sound like he's playing.

Banton, on loan at Halifax?
That's the lad. Don't get me wrong he looks very very raw but how he's not getting in our squad with the defence we are currently putting out is beyond me.
