This is the report-United's U21s kicked off 2015 with a deserved victory over Birmingham City at Wast Hills on Tuesday afternoon.

Ben Whiteman and substitute CJ Hamilton scored the all important goals, as George Long, Craig Alcock, James Wallace, Harrison McGahey, Kieran Wallace and Che Adams all got some valuable game time under their belts.

United had the best chance of the first-half when McDonagh headed inches wide, whilst the Wallaces both had long range efforts on goal as the Blades looked the most likely to break the deadlock before the interval.

The visitors started the second-half brightly and gained a reward in the 55th minute. WHITEMAN scored from the penalty spot after good work down the left with Khan and Paling combining.

Shortly after Whiteman's opener, James Wallace was replaced by Sam Berry, allowing the goalscorer to move forward into midfield.

With just under ten minutes remaining, Coustrain and HAMILTON replaced Adams and McDonagh and with his first meaningful contribution, the latter named substitute capitalised on a slip from home goalkeeper Townsend to make the game safe for the Blades as he slid into the empty net.

Nigel Clough was amongst the watching crowd and commented: "Everything went to plan in terms of the minutes the senior lads were scheduled to get and the performance was worthy of a victory."

Blades: Long, Alcock, Paling, J. Wallace (Berry 59), McGahey, Whiteman, Khan, Dimaio, McDonagh (Hamilton 81), K. Wallace, Adams (Coustrain 76).
Unused: Banton, Eastwood.

Thanks for the report wiz.
Just out of interest, is there a limit on the number of over 21s that can play in these matches? (e.g. Alcock, Wallace).
If not, isn't it just the same as the old reserve team?

Did Wallace survive the game without injury must have strained an eyelash minimum:)
