CONFIRMED Che Adams

We never seem to learn.
Selling our best players has never worked out for us to our benefit, short term or long term.

And like it or not, Adams is one of if not the best player we have in terms of making things happen and getting a goal from nothing.

To those thinking the sale of this player will help in the overhaul of the squad, you must have very short memories.
Clough lost his best defender, and not only then had to replace him, he had to bring in a whole host of other players to make up for those we'd had on loan and that would have brought us relegation if left to Weir.
Adkins lost Murphy....and had to improve a play off side to a promotion side with the proceeds.....we all know where he blew that money on!

So although on the face of it £3m seems a good fee now....it's only good if we can find and bring in a direct replacement first (That is significantly cheaper than Adams)....and then fund one or two more that will make a big improvement to the starting 11.
And does anyone really think that 1.-The board will do that rather than use it to cover losses incurred in signing the players we already have...And 2- That we have the scouting network NOW to go and find these players.

Sorry....I don't. It's not doom and gloom....it's called history and loss cutting. And we have both at present to back my theory.

So you think Adams will want to stay if Newcastle are willing to pay that kind of money for him ( I will be surprised if they are)?. No way!! Adams will be off like a shot and I like many blade fans accept that players get there way in the end.
Take the best offer available, ime sure Chris will use the money wisely
and not waste whatever is available
on rubbish.

We should milk this for all it is worth. If they want him, they can pay over the odds. They have plenty of money and plenty of quality players, if Che didn't work out for them, they'd have paid relative peanuts. For us, we have neither money nor much quality, we need Che much more than they do, so they can fucking pay up.

I don't give two hoots whether he wants to stay or not.

He was very happy to sign a new contract which included a hefty pay rise a year ago, so tough shit sunshine you are a Sheffield United player.
Do your job or we will hold you in breach of contract and not pay you.....play well....get us up and guess what....here's another nice little pay rise or if you still want to leave you can go for probably double what we will get now!
Win win.....for all concerned.

Ok he might have titty lip for a few weeks, be thinking about the sports car he could have had....the money he could have blown but this is the bloody problem with football in this country, and I'm sorry to say the English players within it. I'm pretty sure young Che is currently doing very nicely thank you on probably 5k a week with his bonus's.
It's about money.....not football. It's about time someone took a stand....took the lead and started doing things the right way and in the best long term interests of the football club.
We can either be Sheffield United, premier league contenders......or we can be Sheffield United, new Crewe but nicer facilities!

I know which I prefer thanks.

Can we bring in a replacement as effective as Che? Yes, he wasn't particularly good last year.

If it means we can get a centre half and one other over the line I'd be happy.

We still need a lot more than two in before the Bolton game, or its going to be another long, frustrating and ultimately disappointing season at BDTBL ........ :(

I suspect its been slow this week because we're waiting for the Che deal to be finished, and if it is we're in a different financial position than we are with him staying.

Adams may want to go but he is a player under contract and therefore its not his decision, regardless of what our brilliant leaders have spouted before .....

We should refuse to deal until our valuation has been met or exceeded ...... if Adams gets childish about it ...... he can train with the U14s and have his wages docked.

Ultimately the problem is; will the proceeds of sale be reinvested in the first team squad ? History suggests that the answer is no ........ and that's why we're trapped in self-imposed exile in L1 :(

I think the possibility of getting a good sale is there with Adams but as usual its what happens after he is has gone.

I barely trust the club to get a good deal in the first place with a decent add ons in place and I don't trust the club to replace him adequately. I expect the money to end up being used to pay off the last of the dross off.

This is better than end of August..Kmac, Murphs, Harry...they were disastrous...

Wouldn't trust either any further than I could throw Tommy Ward's elephant

Great reference for the youngsters!

I love the passion Grizzly and I really fully understand where you're coming from. But you're not living in the real world pal if you think for one moment that it's possible to stop a player moving if he wants to leave. It's illegal for a start! Surely you know that?
