£10m! That's ridiculous

I agree. However, a club we’ll be competing with at the lower end of the PL aren’t going to sell us a striker on the cheap, knowing that’s a position we’re desperate to strengthen in.

Whilst I appreciate the posts that call for younger players, possibly those who can learn and improve, but we have immediate aims to consider, and these are to ensure we remain a Prem club the season after this one. By all means buy someone who might be able to take the leap, and of course my trust in Wilder is as it's always been, but some experience as well as youth and speed are absolutes. whatever Wilder decides he's got my vote, and should he discover a gem from a lower division I'm more than fine with this.

£10m! That's ridiculous and tbh I'm not that keen anyway, not that we have a say! I'd rather Madine to be honest, you know that Madine can play 46 games and will be a handful and not on the wages Austin will be.
Surely Austin will be on the wages CW offers him?

I would take him but if we can get him for about £7m that would be about right

At £10m though....

Worst case if we came down and can’t afford any stupid wages, who’d be willing to offer even 30% of that price for him?

We really need to get younger up front. He’s 30 next week isn’t he?

You might take note and see that I didn't comment on Austin. What I feel we do need is experience to act as a counter to players still learning how to play.

I trust Wilder, not something I've always been able to do with many Blade's managers, so he'll know we need a balance of youth and experience. Don't forget, Wilder and Knill do have the knack of making under-performing players raise their game, so patience will be required dependent upon who CW signs.

I do trust wilder - genuinely.

But we don’t have any youth or inexperience. I believe we had the second oldest squad in the championship behind Bolton last year. We didn’t give a single minute to a player under 23 that we own. We need to be aiming to set ourselves up for the long term - I’m not convinced CA or another aging forward when we have 2 does that.

I’ll grant we don’t have much premier league experience but we are desperate imo for an injection of youth. No really BS and DM can’t help guide the likes of a mcburrie.

Barnet apart, thought Stearman was steady enough when called on but agree prem may be a step too far.

He was steady enough when asked to play a bit part but if we’d played him as much as Egan last season we wouldn’t be a Premiership team now. And I say that as someone who rates him.

Goal against Boro and legendary end of season piss up antics earns him a starting spot at dean court (or whatever they're calling it this year).

According to the sky ticker, Southampton would accept 10m from us. I think taking the 1 out might be closer

Think that this is just a case of agents doing their thing and getting their client mentioned on the football transfer network.

Even if United arent in for him at all (and im dubious that we are even interested going on his age and what CW has previously stated re younger players who want to step up and prove themselves), then they will have done their work and might get a move somewhere for their client off the back of it.

Id be disappointed if we went on for him.

Didn't do too badly for QPR though did he?
18 PL goals in 35 appearances.

If Wilder can get the best out of him we can easily see that return.

If the criteria was "had a decent goalscoring season 5 years ago" we might as well buy Jordan Rhodes
