Not the worst change of shape that is it?

Why change the shape of the team, it's proved successful, we've only had problems with it at the Lane when teams have parked the bus. Admittedly, if we can't break a team down in that instance then change formation is an option, I thought CW might have gone 4-4-2 in the second half just to pose a few different questions for the pigs. A couple of decent wingers might also have helped in a situation like Friday night ... assuming Brookes stays, he covers one of those places, but A N other in January would be a bonus.

We're overloaded in MF now, and arguably light in attack despite signing Wilson. A variation of 451/433 wouldn't be a bad thing.

Settle down, as soon as Ched (now look what you've done I have to use his first name so we know who I'm talking about - Wilder out) gets back we'll start battering teams again.

The new signings increase hugely the options available to Tufty. It’s a good thing, especially with his talent to alter things in the course of a game,

We won’t, though, go to a lone striker on a regular basis; nor should we.

Do they? I'm not familiar enough with the new players to know.

I think Brooks returning gives us genuinely different options in terms of shape, as he's our only winger. Can the Man U kid play wide?

I was thinking more of keeping our shape. I like it. The newcomers, I believe will enhance our ability to retain that shape and get back to winning ways.

We’ve really missed Coutts as our results without him demonstrate. When Fleck or Duffy are not 100% fit, tiring or suspending, again we are significantly weakened. Games come around quickly. We now have the potential to rotate seamlessly Holmes/Duffy, Evans/Coutts, Leonard/Fleck, or any mix thereof.

Now we have quality replacements, subject to settling in of course, to keep the well oiled machine purring, in conjunction with the fine players we already have.

Let’s be honest we all love watching our current shape and style. It’s exciting attacking football. Playing out from the back getting it wide / the Duffy role etc.

We just need to work on improving what we are currently doing that being the final third.

How many times do we get into incredible positions in the wings. We get to the byline (inside the box) many many times and are wasteful. Whether that be full backs / centre halves / etc we are wasteful.

I watched that on Henry talking about Barcelona it’s the managers job to get you into the final third with the Ball and then it’s down to the players to do the killer pass / shot / run.

We will work on it and we will improve. But whatever happens please don’t change the way we play.

I am not convinced by this. I have no stats to back anything up, but I always prefer to see a smaller squad. Whenever a manager has too many options, they can overthink things. When you have to rotate to keep players happy, you can unsettle the team. You obviously have more unhappy players on the fringes to deal with as well.

Obviously you don't want the minimum number as you need to cover suspension and injury, as well as make a change when a game isn't going to plan. But do you need three or four options for each position? That's obviously going too far the other way.

I now feel we have too many options in the middle.

If Leonard is brought in to compete with Basham for RCB or CCB (Like Coady) then in the middle we have.

Fleck
Coutts
Lundstram
Evans

Completely agree....lots of mouths to feed particularly in the middle of the park....can see a few moving out before the close of the window though and over that, CW has a lot of difficult decisions to make....but make them he will, no room for sentiment and some players who maybe thought they were a shoe-in every week are in for a shock.....Bash, Duffy, Stevens even Clarke now his scoring boots are not working as well as they were....will all have to up their game even more as the signings we have/are making will push them harder than they have ever been pushed before.

That, the numbers, is one of the things we’ve learnt about the division and how important it is. We’re always trying to improve on what we do, always looking for ways to get better, and we feel that’s one way we can do it. Every single one of the the lads who have come in are more than capable of playing, and that’s what we want.”

One upfront with Brookes and Holmes playing either side as inverted winger types is certainly something that I could get behind.

It’s an option to be deployed in certain circumstances certainly. As a rule, though, Tufty likes two up front. So do the vast majority of fans.

Personally I think we should be able to change shape mid match as and when required

Or...

we could go with Fleck & Lunny or Leonard in the middle and infront of them a trio in Holmes, Duffy & Brooks all roaming & Clarke as the lone front man.

I'm not entirely sure what your point is here.
