Championship players out of contract this summer

It's Premier League out of contract players we want to be targeting, I don't want championship rejects in the championship. Apart from a marked few they'll not be good enough, we've tried that before.

Off that list (realistically) I'd pick:
Chris Baird - a good, positive influence on the dressing room. Versatile, a good player and experienced in both that level and the one above. Age isn't a factor either for a player like him.
Luke Chambers - a very good defender. Mad Mick has him playing right back because he hasn't got any, he might enjoy moving back into a more central role. Bags of championship experience.
Jake Cooper - 6"8 defender. Young and massive. On loan at Millwall where he's had one of the best defensive records in the league since joining.

As far as realistic players go that's it for me. One thing I do notice, a complete plethora of any decent realistic attacking talent. But a few good defenders.

Jake Cooper, did ok for Millwall at our ground, but he's a Reading player as is Jan Kermorgant who always scores goals, they might wanna stay down south.

We need experienced goalkeeper cover/competition - any of Cuszczak, Ruddy or Ikeme might fit the bill from that list.

Paul Gallagher and Matt Smith wouldn't be a bad shout for starters, although the latter has gone off the boil a little.

I would also like to sign Gaetan Bong, for no other reason than 25,000 Blades shouting 'Bong.......Bong' in a Big Ben stylee.
My bong days were over years ago.

Rather than pay over inflated wages to championship players I would be inclined to cherry pick the best from League 1, players on the up like Conor Mclaughlin, Josh Morris, Ricky Holmes etc.

Totally agree about the strategy and some young loans like Riley and chapman again. Break the wage budget break the spirit

oh and lets not forget Oxford Reject

I don't get why people automatically assume out of contract means reject?

if this is the case then
Billy Sharp
Paul Coutts
Kieron Freeman
Chris Basham

are out of contract and should be considered rejects

Hanson and O Shea were set to be out of contract as was Lafferty so they're rejects then.

And then thats add the 2 league one rejects, the one from Coventry John Fleck and the lad from Oxford too what that reject called? oh yeah Jake Wright.

Clubs just leave negotiations to the end of the season now.

Saw Smith on Saturday at the Grate. Poor and subbed. Definitely 2 teams we should be taking at least 8 or so points next season.

There's gonna be a lot of unemployed players this summer...Wigan alone appear to have 26 out of contract players !!!

Always liked Steve Sidwell and with Brighton going up he will be available. I'm all for young, hungry players but we will need some experience too.
