Rumours surfacing on twitter. Plymouth away first game followed by Swansea Home. West Brom away last match. No doubt these are completely inaccurate as early iterations have been in previous seasons. Just want a home fixture on Boxing day again to annoy our neighbours in S6. Better still if its them.

The pig at work reckons we are playing each other on the first game of the season, because the fixture list always puts relegated teams against teams that finished low down first. I did point out to him that the entire division finished below us, but you know what pig logic is like…….

The fixture algorithm doesn't allow local derbies on the first or last days.

I also think it doesn't allow local derbies on Boxing Day or Easter weekend (the algorithm chooses sides that aren't too far apart, but aren't immediate local derbies). In the Premier League, the algorithm often bunches all of the local derbies into the same weekend, to help avoid all that stuff.

I don't know enough about the Scottish system, but I assume that they have rules (either written or unwritten?) about the Glasgow derby always having to be on New Year's Day, etc.
