My question with JRS is is the upside high enough to justify so many games being a passenger?

Possibly not. If we could get someone who'd perform more regularly but maybe without quite the same top end then it would probably be worth it

If he stays in the team he'll probably end on near 10 goals but how many more games will he have like the last few?
This is exactly my thought process on it. I think for how we are currently positioned and setup we would probably be better served with more consistency rather than a higher ceiling.

I may well be wrong and he goes on a tear but the last 3 games have been quite poor and he's barely made the hour mark in those games as well.

This is why some of us are moaning when we perform like the first half when we know we have the quality to produce like the second half. Frustrating watching the first half dross but very happy when we play as we know we can. Just hope against Burnley we raise our game for the full 90.
I just get the feeling that some people will always find something to moan about....no matter how well we do.

To be fair, he get little support from Gilchrist on the right, and he always have two man marking him. He takes a bit focus of Ohare and the others just being on the pitch. But i agree to that with the ball he have been a bit off the last games.

I think it quite obvious we don't play at full tilt throughout a game, because it's impossible to play that way. But we push on in spells when we need to and are able to remain competitive the whole 90 mins when other teams flag. We are not great to watch in possession, but mostly in control. Thought we looked much better however in that spell when O'Hare moved out to the right, more balanced across the pitch and created more. If there really is an issue with Brooks, then it could be an option to go with McCallum Hamer OHare across the 3 attacking mids as an alternative to Rak-Sakyi. Thought for the first hour Robinson was oustanding, one of those players who always grows throughout the season and while still giving the ball away too much, Peck had his best game, Cardiff had some very creative midfield players and he did not give them an inch.

And Brooks isn't getting a single minute on the pitch in his place

In which case the very least we ideally need is proper competition for him

I wonder if Wilder would still be interested in someone like Jed Wallace. For me this is much more important than signing another RB, unless Seriki is fucked

Plus ca change.
They are shocking at the back as we saw two years ago.
But we sit pissing about in our own half under #ChrissieWilderTacticalImbecile
Jesus has had three occassions (forward backwards still a liability) were he has not had 4 on him and caused havoc.
GET HIM ON THE LEFT.
Burrows is too slow to beat anybody as we saw with Bogle at Leeds slaughtering him.
OHare
FFS
Great chance right in front of goal <25 yards out.
Does he shoot on run closer and shoot - does he ****. Complex five yard pass and ****s it up.
Done F all AGAIN.
One goal every 10 games - here and career - does NOT a team fixture make for an alleged number 10
They're back out.
There were a few minutes were I would have settled for a draw but two great goals saw us win.
A bit like every week.
Player quality despite Wilder see us win through.
Moore had one cross from Jesus first half apart from that bog standard cross from Gilchrist and tackle by Davis.
ie F ALL service.
Why does McCallum get to play on the left but attackers Jesus and Brooks (he must have criticized OHare to upset Wilder so much) have to be played totally out of position on the right.
Even he (MC) is get good balls in the box last game and one this as a defender basically.
Ah well.
Now to worry about the shysters taking over and the imbecile managers transfer dealings - as always.

Would you replace JRS with Brooks or McCallum and swap to their preferred wing ?
Move Hamer to RW ?
I would have said brooks on for JRS but just shows what I know!

I’m actually not sure what we did in the end. Did o’hare come out on the right? Anyway, whatever we did it worked, so happy days!

Brewster was excellent when he came on. And we looked much more threatening in the second half, even before we scored. Obviously two fantastic goals from Moore but I would have fancied us to score anyway playing like that. We just turned the speed dial up 5% in everything we did and that was enough.

That's quite the take on a manager who has rebuilt a team from a disaster and chalked up 50 points before Christmas.

We are incredibly effective. Not sure how we keep doing it. We are extremely well drilled/organised though. It's not pretty. It's mad to think we're top with 50 points ay Christmas and there are few games where I'd say we were good throughout. Need reinforcements in January.

Some gritted teeth there…….

If you saw him earlier this season, you could see how dangerous he was 1vs1 on the right side. After that more teams are closer to him when he gets the ball. Often you see two players around him. Gilchrist is rarely overlaping, providing him almost no support but a backpass, making it even harder for him tricking the defenders. When the opposition players marking him with two players, it gives more space in the middle for Ohare/Campbell or others. I agree to that he havent been at the level as earlier this season, but everone have seen what he is capable of doing if he got the time and space with the ball.

Awful first half very enjoyable second half. Great to see Moore get a couple of great strikes. I had a good view behind the goal, looked a clear penalty on Brewster

I did see him earlier in the season when his cut inside was a success but its all he has and teams have sussed that now. Gilchrist has been exposed to 2 on 1 so many times because he rarely tracks back with any purpose. That criticism then works both ways. That said, Gilchrist isn't a natural LWB and I doubt it is in his footballing DNA to be overlapping as maybe we have become used to. But, hey ho, 3 points.

Love watching the match and then reading the same people pissing the bed. Have some faith in your team.
Just can't understand why calling the game in progress as you see it , giving praise where due and pointing out things which could be better , should be called "pissing the bed".
It's like some people can't bear to have anything said with which they disagree.
And their only response is not to put their own views on the actual issues or suggest how improvement could be made , but criticise their fellow Blades for what they perceive as disloyalty.
If all they want is the result , don't bother with match threads , they're not for them.
Tedious first half , much improved second half , fabulous goals & result , top of the league , Happy Christmas 😃

Win on Boxing Day and we're halfway to 100 points - just superb

Massive win with Leeds and burnley winning, and to do it with 2 absolute fantastic goals (1st a worldie).

Cardiff never really looked like threatening, credit to the lads, and smart move by wilder introducing baptiste.
