Cant believe how the moaning brigade have forgotten that we signed 10 players in this window!

Burnley, Leeds and Luton (our biggest rivals on paper) have all had to sell their best players, the Blades have managed a significant rebuild without losing our biggest saleable assets in Hamer, Anel, Souza (yet…..)
Amen brother...

Fear you'll be shouted down by the hard of thinking brigade though.

They'd much rather have all our youth players out on League One loans and be paying £30k a week to grizzled PL rejects to fill our team.

Wilder can now successfully play the siege mentality card with a squad of young, hungry, athletic, dynamic bastards and i only hope he proves the majority of the fan base wrong!!

We are a bit light in areas but I don't mind it.

Necessity breeds invention and I'd rather that than have a bloated squad. I know there's an in-between but it's not always easy to strike a balance and as I say I'd rather this than the opposite.

McBurnie is a big loss, but maybe also the only one that feels like a loss at all.

We also have funds for the loan window and January if needed, when many others won't.

Whilst I appreciate there's been some very good work done there is a pertinent question regards how light we are up top? It isn't feasible to rely on Moore to play every game and then we're stuck with absolutely naff all.

Thats a more balanced reply.

Agree...think we've had a really good window.....but it's about 80% complete.
Would be a shame to suddenly stop and not complete our transfer work because then it sabotages all the previous good work.

A few week back thought we'd be mid table but due to the impressive signings we did look well on course to be comfortably a top 6 team.
However we lack so much depth in some areas that it's untrue, any injuries and we're back to mid table level again.

Would be shocked if we didn't sign anyone (especially a striker) before the window shuts.

About the only one that was a decent first teamer was Bogle, but like trusty, the money we got for him far outweighs his ability. We replaced Bogle with Seriki quicker than it took for the ink to dry and Leeds fans to ask for their money back
Bogle was massively over rated in my opinion and I won't miss him. Good going forwards, a liability in defence, and yet I constantly read fans defending his inability to defend as if it wasn't his job as a defender to defend, a bit like fans defending McBurnie's poor scoring record because he could defend a corner, as if we'd spend £17mil on a striker just to defend set pieces.

If we'd kept Bogle as a winger and pushed him up top in competition with Brooks, then maybe. But as a full/wing back, whatever, he was average at best. £5mil was hilarious.

He’ll persist for a couple more games, the problem is that we’ve got too many midfielders to fit in so playing an extra defender really screws us.

We’ve also got no one who could play RWB apart from Jamie Shackleborn.
What about Souza as a ball playing centre back. I've been wondering about this for a while, physically he has everything you need to excel there. That would also free up a position in midfield.

I'm not necessarily advocating it but if we get a couple of injuries we may have no choice.

The next Phil Jagielka?

The point was he was the only real, genuine first teamer that we’ve sold

Don’t think he tracks his men well enough

Point missed is it’s a significant rebuild from one of the worst squads assembled, that doesn’t automatically equate to meaning it’s particularly good

Now don’t get me wrong, 1st 11 on paper looks good enough to finish top 10, but you all know we don’t play on paper

You realistically can’t play 46 games with same 11 bar maybe a gk, you will have to make changes, you will get suspensions and injuries

And more importantly if you have a bad run of form you have limited options other than relying on inexperience

I get the wanting to make a point about the overreaction etc etc but it’s not a major success if you are having to rely on guys who have had major fitness issues like Brewster and RND to just cover now and again either, it’s a gamble

Most of the signings have been good but the lack of goals in this team is still a massive problem that hasn't been addressed.

We now have to get through September, October, November and December with Moore as our only competent striker which is laughable.

Surely we could have loaned a PL striker to replace BBD ?
Judging by his current antics looks like we did well not to get him back.

Definitely need a striker though I think goals will come from midfield at the moment.

Most of them were deadwood and loanees. Any key players on permanent contract we have lost?
So what if they were loanees ? They still played in the first team , BBD , McAtee
Look at the strikers we've lost
Archer , BBD , McBurnie , Jebbo , Osula.
And who's left ?
Crock Brewster.
Totally unfit Campbell has come in , who got 3 goals last season.
And Moore looks lost as lone striker.
I really can't believe we have not recruited direct competition/cover for Moore - we are very weak up front as soon as the first injury comes.
Our 2 Lfooted (fairly short) CBs are not good enough to play in a 4.
People talk about not wanting to go up this season but next summer we are going to be on the bones of our arse , with less money , scratching around to replace Gilchrist , Souttar & JRS.
So just now we are spoiling the ship for a ha'porth o tar.
Minimum requirement is a decent CF - there are not enough goals in this team - Brewster & Campbell are not good enough to compete with or stand in for Moore as lone CF.
So what do we do if Moore loses form or gets injured ?
Convert Gbric to CF ?

Souza ? Ball playing ? Passing is not his strong suit

Those sincerely using bed wetters and other immature drivel need to give their head a serious wobble. Moore and Brewster up top. That's it. Then it's down to the kids. There's bed wetting and then there's simply recognising that the squad is thin and there's two loan spots left untouched.

Transfer windows are mostly noise.

We always speculate that windows are great, awful, crucial etc etc

Frankly means nothing. Results are all that matter.

If we can keep decent levels of fitness, gel as a team and get the best out of some of the lads we’ve got we’ll be there or there abouts.

Win our next few games and deadline day will be forgotten.

(Realise if we lose a few or hit bad injuries then pitchforks will be out)

Wilder actually mentioned the 2 vacant loan spots earlier this week - surely we can't be so short of money that we can't grab a loan striker from somewhere ?
If Brewster is such a nice lad , why not ask him for a contribution from his wages ?

Let's see how strong this rebuild turns out to be, particularly if Moore gets injured.
We look lacking in balance and definitely weak up front.

If reports are to be believed then we've turned a profit, reduced the wage bill, held onto the biggest assets, and brought in some real quality. In that sense, it's hard to imagine doing any better while also being realistic.

If we're talking about whether this will be enough to get us up, that's a different thing entirely. If that midfield comes together then there won't be many that can handle it. I've got big hopes that we're now set for a goalkeeper for the first time in far too long. The rest of the squad is worryingly thin.

As a transfer window goes, I think we've done some fantastic business given the godawful state of affairs going into it. I'm just worried it won't be enough.
