Cant believe how the moaning brigade have forgotten that we signed 10 players in this window!

I'm with you, Silent Blade - the majority of players that have left contributed next to nothing last season. Our starting 11 is up there with the best in the league, and we have one of the best youth academies, which has produced a number of players who are on the fringes and who will be fine if/when introduced to a team of first teamers. Some people think running a club is like Football Manager and get totally carried away with this deadline day nonsense that Sky invented.
It just makes me laugh whenever I see people say we need more players because we let 20 go, even after bringing 10 new players in.

We didn't need to replace all 20 of those players.

I can't fault the departures, but i do worry still, to commit to them we need to make sure we have quality players, but also the right quantity of players coming in, 2 players for each position. I like the signings we have made and on a 1-11 we are very good, but we are threadbare when you write it down. We have changed systems and have a lack of players and depth to fit this system. We have injury struggled Brewster and Campbell as cover for a 32 year old Kieffer Moore, Hamer as a left winger who is our best midfielder but he's never been a winger. A couple of injuries to the back line and we are chucking kids in - it can be great for a one-off cup game but can also hinder us massively. We are reliant on them who let's be honest for their own progression, need to be moving down the ladder a couple of leagues to get that regular experience, playing at this level routinely will never help them.

One, Marsh, Peck, Seriki, Hampson are all a couple of levels above what they should be right now. I think they all have real promise too, I just hope we utilise it right.

Edit - Peck could be a good League 1 option I would say!!

Not to be a Debbie downer....

RB 1 available, Shackleton is another sick note by all counts, Seriki injured and couldn't get in rotherham side.

LB fine

CB RND showed he isn't league one CB standard so we have 3 options there

CM I like Peck but not ready to be a starter if souza or blaster go down only 2 viable options

CAM 2 good options

RW 2 options who look very raw

LW 0.5 options Campbell might be alright, Hamer shouldn't play left wing.

Striker 2 options Moore and Brewster (one of which can't stay healthy, rubbish lone striker)

I'd call that paper thin.
Rb,s Gilchrist, Shackleton, seriki
Cb,s anel, Souttar, RND,robbo (Gilchrist if needed)
Lb,s burrows, McCallum
Cm,s souza, blaster, peck (hamer/Shackleton when needed)
Wingers, attacking midfielder, O'Hare, hamer, rak, burrows, Campbell brooks
Cf, Moore, Brewster,one
No doubt I've missed someone
On paper not a bad squad but short at centre half and centre forward
It all depends wether CW can get a tune out of them

I think we've missed a opportunity with mepham and billing

I don’t think we do, but I do feel we are a few short and it remains to be seen how many. Plus it’s about quality more than quantity for me. The season will tell us whether 10’s enough. As it stands and where we look short, I doubt it

We have a plethora of L2 ready players to go in the U21's though! That'll do

There weren’t 20, but I agree, most of them we were glad to see the back of, and the squad was bloated with a lot of dead wood.

When you lose 20 players over one summer it's not realistic to think you'll sign 20 replacements. Rome wasn't built in a day. Next summer is more important than January. I'd rather not go up this season and rebuild adequately over two seasons.
The problem with spreading the rebuild over 2 years is if we don't gain promotion this season Hamer, Souza and Anel will all more than likely be sold, so the rebuild will pretty much have to start again

True, but we'll hopefully still get decent fees as they're all tied down to contracts. The money can be reinvested so long as we make profit on them.

I can only think we are saving loans for January.

We essentially have 22 games to go with the side as it is ( not expecting a incoming and playing on January 1st)

Let's hope we can get away with it and be close to the play offs at a minimum

I’d be more than happy to lose Anel and/or Souza if it got us 2 or 3 players in positions we need.

The likelihood is that Anel now stays because Trusty has gone, we’d be threadbare at the back by selling Anel.

I don’t think anyone is buying Souza for decent money so he stays and hopefully does a good job. Cut out the silly booking in the first half and we get more value from him when he plays.

If we lose Hamer then we want fucking with a splintered broom handle and deserve to finish lower mid table.

We are short, but with the size of the rebuild that was required, I'm pretty chuffed with our summer window.

To go from scrapping the bottom of the barrel in the free market and instead bring in players like O'Hare, Moore, Cooper, Gilchrist, Souttar and RSJ, but mainly still (currently) keeping players like Hamer and Blaster, it's been a brilliant rebuild in a single window. Much, much better than what I expected if a takeover wasn't completed early on.

Hopefully winter window will give us an opportunity to strengthen where needed, but it's going to be great to watch this team grow together and understand each other more as we hopefully put their skills together and formulate a quality side.

Shall we just play a 3 then
He’ll persist for a couple more games, the problem is that we’ve got too many midfielders to fit in so playing an extra defender really screws us.

We’ve also got no one who could play RWB apart from Jamie Shackleborn.

Spot on

Burnley, Leeds and Luton (our biggest rivals on paper) have all had to sell their best players, the Blades have managed a significant rebuild without losing our biggest saleable assets in Hamer, Anel, Souza (yet…..)

Significant Rebuild

We signed Ohare & Moore

This is what some of our fans fail to grasp.

RND was playing right back - still very rusty and got beat a few times. But we all know he is a very capable right back just needs a few games.
