Cannon

It’s clear that Cannon divides opinion. Might as well discuss politics or religion?

He is 22 years old, and he might turn into the next Kieth Edwards. He does nothing, but bags 20 a season in the Top division! Or maybe not!

My view is he’s a Blades player. Nuff said.
Did you see Keith’s Edward’s at 19? I did, trust me he’s no Keith Edward’s

Get a preseason under his belt and give him a clean slate for next season.

Best thing Cannon can do is get some sort of partnership with the likes of O'Hare, Hamer, Brewster etc (if Brewster stays) over the season, which should make him play better.

Look how Campbell plays with the above 3 mentioned players, they don't even have to look where Campbell wants the ball, they just know, and vice versa.

Take O'Hare's goal against Bristol City in 2nd leg, he knew exactly where Campbell was going to put that ball, and timed his run accordingly, same with Hamer's ball to Campbell in the final, they've got that mental connection which is what Cannon needs to form with them.

On paper, Campbell and Cannon should be an ideal partnership, on their day, they're both capable of creating and scoring goals at this level.
Campbell and O'Hare's understanding of each other was excellent in the play offs. I get why Wilder didn't start them together as he wanted to start his "strongest" team, but I said before the match that I'd rather we'd start with Cannon and Moore and bring on Campbell and O'Hare together for this reason. Starting Campbell and having O'Hare on the bench meant they were never going to play together in the final as it was inevitable that Campbell would go off around 60-65 minutes like he always does. Hopefully they'll play together more next season.

I can’t get my head round the idea that AI came up with a striker that seemingly has no attributes for a striker other than he’s got a very good finish on him.
Fits with my experiences of AI to be fair.

But I still think it's a big fib.

Scored only 3 goals in more than a year after his debut in the FA Cup tie at Leicester
In fairness to him, wasn't he part of the Jimmy Sirrell strategy of blooding youngsters into a top flight side that was no longer competitive and looking like setting a record low points total at one point (sounds strangely familiar)?

Edwards soon found his level once we were relegated and began to score for fun, both for us and for Hull, achieving hero status when they were sadly lacking on both counts.

He wasn't a top flight player and would, arguably, have struggled to score, at the highest level, had he had the opportunity.

He creates many chances to be slipt in due to the quality of his movement which is of a very high standard. He needs feeding with balls on the shoulder or across the box, preferably on the ground. I imagine after a few goals his confidence will grow.

His all round game leaves a lot to be desired; physically it looks like it will be difficult to amend that even if you'd expect it to improve given his age. Overall he's a very strange player for United to have with us usually prioritising physicality, and what a striker can do without the ball and deeper in the build ups. I'm intrigued.

It was a massive error of judgement starting our only two players capable of holding and linking the play in a potentially 130 minute plus game. Especially when we know the fitness issues concerning both of them. It was maybe the decisive decision within our control.

Of course I wouldn't be saying that if VAR didn't intervene, Brooks had dinked his chance, their keeper hadn't pulled off that save etc etc
