I think he is going to have a decent season. He has looked pretty good in the LF position, albeit in 2 friendlies.

For whatever reason, he just couldn't get to grips with how Wilder set the team up.

but like billy sharp he didnt start off being prolific ,, just give cannon a chance to settle in

It depends how you define prolific.
His first appearances for us were in the first division towards the end of the 1975-6 relegation season. He made 2 starts and one substitute appearance. He didn't score in any of those matches.
However, in the following season he scored 18 goals in 30 starts plus one substitute appearance. Including the substitute appearance, that is a strike rate of very nearly 60%. In the second division in his first full season whilst still a teenager. That seems a fairly prolific start to me.

But I do agree that Cannon needs to be given a chance and may improve under Selles with a different tactical setup.

I assume the ball not being in or around the box isn't great as a centre forward.

I can remember Sharp partnered Beattie under Bryan Robson, where Robson insisted on Sharp supporting Beattie outside the box or out wide. He was then sold because he didn't score enough goals, when everyone knew that Billy was a poacher in the box. Then again, Robson's little table probably had more tactical nuance then that washed up hack.
