Cannon goes off

But that's simply not true.

We had scored 4 before the game.
We had scored 1 with him on the pitch tonight (5)
We scored 2 after he left the pitch.

So we actually scored 40% of our season goals after he left the pitch
Oh

If Wilder doesn't put Oné in the squad ahead of him now that will be a terrible look
He probably won’t, Cannon hasn’t deserved a place in the squad since Milwall at Home and he’s started twice since then and got minutes in nearly all of the others. It’s so embarrassing for all of the coaching staff that have been here this season to allow him to continue playing games.

Probably because he's shit scared of fucking up because he knows threads like this will be started.

Lads 22 FFS, wish people would give him some slack.

We've won 3-1 and the first thought is - ooh, let's start a thread on slagging Cannon. Some fucking tools in our fanbase
Let's ignore our problems. Seems wise.

People like you are why this club will never amount to anything.

You accept, and allow (and I'm being kind with this next word Tom) mediocrity.

He's scored 1 goal for this club and is proving a blocker to young players with much higher ceilings. He's featuring purely based off his price tag in order to make a feeble attempt to justify it, but with every minute he's on the pitch his value (ha) is diminishing even further.

Cannon's only playing because we haven't got much else if Campbell's being rested.

He won one header in the second half and besides that, I can barely recall him touching the ball. He's on his heels all the time and not looking to receive the ball, get into any positions, make runs or force the issue in any way.

There's no outstanding attributes at all. Ings wasn't that much better but you can at least see that he's got it in his mind even if his body won't always keep up.

There must be some targets in mind for January because we're buggered if Campbell is out for any prolonged period.

I am baffled how he can be a better option than Marsh, Beattie or One.

If it's that they're lightweight, I've got news for you.
If it's that they'll be ineffectual, I've got news for you.
If it's that they're unlikely to be a goal threat, I've got news for you.
If it's that they're likely to look at least 3 leagues out of their depth... you get the gist

Onè and Marsh have both scored a goal each in a combined 759 mins across their whole Blades career. Cannon has one goal in 1,163 minutes.

Chucked himself on the floor and didn't get a free kick straight from the off, and it didn't get any better from there. I don't see how Marsh could possibly be any worse. At least he's reasonable on the ball and has a good shot on him.

I like Marsh a lot. This season surely is make or break for him though at his age. I'd love to see him get given a couple of games to prove his worth before he's shipped off to Donny or wherever for £250k and a sell on fee.

Yep, it goes back to last season and the moment he arrived.

It makes you wonder if he really wanted to come here and if it was just Leicester pushing him out the door so they could get some cash in.

He didn't even kick on after scoring that decent goal against Burnley.

Very true he has got to have not want to come here to be how poor as he is.

I really don't like turning on players and I've given Cannon far more chances than he deserves but at this point it hurts to watch him. He's not only bad on the ball, he's not doing the basics. Took him 60 minutes to make one decent run. Campbell, Burrows, Brooks, all come on and contribute. Cannon makes us actively worse by being there.

I try not to have a go at players for not being good enough. That's not their fault. When it comes to Cannon though, what can you say? He doesn't even try to affect a defender's first touch, he's never anticipating anything, so I can't even give him credit for work rate.
Exactly what I feel
The lad’s confidence is on the floor but he isn’t helping himself.

There was definitely a rumour that he wanted to to stay at Stoke and didn't want to come here, but Leicester and his agent pretty much forced him.

I don't think he's a bad player, I just think he doesn't care. If he cared even a little bit he'd put some effort in to make things happen, but he's decided he's going to do as little as possible. He's happy to pick up his £25k a week and is as shocked/pissed off as we are when he's named on the team sheet.

One thing that supports this is that he's completely emotionless on the pitch. His expression never changes, he never looks happy, frustrated, angry, nothing. He's literally living every boys dream, he's already a multimillionaire, but looks dead behind the eyes. It makes me wonder if there's some mental health issues going on, and a fresh start somewhere else would be best for all involved.

I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen him get to a 50/50 ball first. In his defence we often punt aimless balls up when he comes on for the last 15 minutes, but he’s always 2 seconds behind his centre half.

Poor footballer, non-existent desire. It’s actually getting criminal that he gets game time because it is honestly like playing with 10 men.

And we score as many as we have all season

Really quite funny, but completely understandable

Get. Fucking. Rid.

Good win against a bad side. Let's try and build on it.
Don’t you think it’s time to stop the witch hunt? We all know your opinion and thoughts on Cannon. You’ve made it clear on countless occasions. The guy is not doing it deliberately. He’s completely lost all confidence. Doesn’t look happy. We don’t know any possible reasons for this. He has got this far as a professional footballer so he is so obviously not shit as many make out. Just lay off and grow up. As has been pointed out some players look at social media and forums etc. This constant barrage of abuse helps no one.

Witch hunt 😂

Let's call people out of being wank and making no effort. I'm not here to be part of normalising shit just because he's 22.

Turning a blind eye to it is certainly not the way to go I'm afraid

He needs hounding out of this club, like it or not

You've even got Carl Asaba saying we're playing with 10 men when he's on the pitch and somehow he's 'being made a scapegoat' or it's a 'witch hunt' 🤣🤣

I don't want to get into the ins and outs of why a particular player isn't performing how we would like or expect him to perform.
I just think that we have seen enough playing time to make a judgement and for whatever reason it isn't working here. Best for both parties to move on.
If he stays I really want him to do well and will support him whatever.

I swear he only touched the ball once in the first half & that was when their keeper kicked it against him.

In any kind of race for the ball he always seems to get there second, not sure if that’s lack of effort, or he’s slow, lack of anticipation or he’s physically weak.

Compare that to Campbell who’d been on the pitch ten minutes and who battled whilst being pulled back and did enough for the ball to be knocked to O’Hare, out to Burrows and goal. I don’t think Cannon could ever do what Campbell did, it’s a shame, but without at least one attribute, he’ll never be good enough.
