Ps - Plenty of hyperbole as usual. Brewster just hugely unfortunate with injuries.
Delighted for Cannon, good lad.
Disagree with thats what we needed at the time.I supported the Brewster purchase even at £20 million plus as we were desperate for a goalscorer at the time. But those involved should have drawn the right conclusions about his injury record. It's injury proneness rather than lack of ability that has hampered his career. But Brewster was given more support and time than Cannon I think who cost a lot less. I think is worth £10 million in today's market. I don't think Brewster will command a transfer fee ever again. Cannon will never be the main striker, the number 9 but he plays well off a lead striker. We never played to his strengths before. Glad to see him finding the net as I always thought he would come good given the right support/system.
Problem is the post title not the responses. Which is better, a hammer or a chisel? Kind of depends what you need it for and often it’s a good idea to have both!I know…always makes me smile.
Cannon scores = he’s a great player…….where as it was only a few weeks ago he was totally crap and needed selling asap.
Still think Brewster is easily a better allround player than Cannon…..but Cannon is showing strong signs he’s the better striker.
However let’s not forget Cannon was consistently poor (3 out of 10) in all his 15 matches last season….at least he was consistent.
The issue that bothered me last season was Cannons body language and lack of effort….at times it looked like he really didn’t want to be here.
Compare this to Brewster….even when he was playing crap….he still gave 100% and had great body language desperately wanting the team to win.
Early part of this season Cannon improved massively but he was still only OK/ sufficient (6 out of 10).
It’s only in his last 2 or 3 matches where he’s actually looked good (7 or 8 out of 10)…..just shows what confidence can do.
Let’s be realistic here..you can’t really judge anyone on 2 or 3 matches…..it’s far too early.
Seems very clear that Cannon struggled playing as a loan striker but in a 2 he can contribute at this level.
Really pleased for him….because he will have known his 1st season at SUFC was a bit of a disaster and he never won over the fans.
However now he’s valued by the fans and he has a great opportunity to become a regular striker.
Don’t forget that we had to drop to league 1 before Evans started to score. He was bought as a PL striker dropping down to the Championship.Any comparison with Ched or king Keith are getting a bit carried away .
Hes a young lad finally showing some form and still has a long way to go .
Credit to him in his work to turn it around and his attitude , loved the block he put in at the end of his shift on the edge of his own box .
He just needs to keep improving and keep going but theres a chance he might turn onto the player we hoped .
Bang on the——————— (insert any name) better than Brewster .

Some of our more docile fans thought he was ours as well!A Derby supporting mate is convinced Brewster is far and away their best player
Surely AgyemangA Derby supporting mate is convinced Brewster is far and away their best player
People didn’t stop criticising Brewster for his whole time at the club.Good old Brewster.
The player who could never be criticised because he was a nice lad apparently.
Thank fuck he's gone.

He’s played 900 odd minutes so far this season. Hardly a surprise.Any time I've looked at Derby's line up Brewster is either a sub or out injured.
You’re obssesed with an ex-player that we all agreed was shit.Good.
He fucking deserved it for being shit.
In fairness he did okay last season and slightly redeemed himself with the goal against Wednesday.
Apart from that he was fucking wank and the signing will always be remembered as a massive disaster.
Nice lad though, eh?![]()
Cannon was very good today… you must give him that at leastDoesn’t matter whether you rate Brewster or not (he’s at best a very average championship forward)
The point is that Cannon is so so poor and so ineffective. He contributes nothing to our team and his record is quite frankly indefensible.
For example, Didzy had a pretty average record but he constributed so much to our all round play, he made us tick and was vital.
But seriously what does this guy do? What are his attributes? What does he bring? The drop off from Bamford is startling
Good old Brewster.

His link up play has been excellent. He’s had to reinvent himself as a player to a degree, that started with us last season and seems to be continuing.Wasn’t that only Brewster’s second goal for them? I don’t think he’s been that good.
But seriously how? No goal no assists - again!Cannon was very good today… you must give him that at least
