I'm sure he made a decent name for himself at Vale last season, assuming they didn't watch the game on sunday do you think we could manage to squeeze some money out of them for him?

We'll even do a special Christmas offer, buy Collins get Woolford free... We'll even stick them both in gift wrap and I'll drop them off in my sleigh dressed as Santa.

There's more chance of selling sand to the Arabs !!

Not a chance. Heres a euphemism for this situation.

If I pick my dogs turd up and try to sell it to you then more than likely you will tell me to do one.

If I pick my dogs turd up and try to give it to you for free then more than likely you will tell me to do one.

If I pick my dogs turd up and try to pay you to take it off my hands then you might consider it. But more than likely tell me to do one.

No because no fucking club would be stupid enough to buy such dross, well except us.

No 4 My dog has diarrhea ,Its messy and sloppy and making my dog crap and no one will touch it.

14 year career, 445 games. Probably not as crap,as we make him out to be, has even scored a few this year. I agree though that the time has come for him to go and maybe there are League 2 clubs that could use him for at least another season. To be out of favour with Clough and stick it out for better times shows some resilience. Yes I know he's on good money but players also want to play. So, let's get rid but let's stop vilifying the bloke.

Oh, believe me, despite how long his career is or games he's played he is every bit as crap as we make him out to be.

Jordan Stewart has strung up 340 games in his career and he's slightly better than non league. Actually scratch that, he isn't.

What a load of shite, according to them we were paying Joe Ironside over four and a half million quid a year.

No we didn't Bert - they've just put the comma in the wrong place in the number, after the hundred thousands not after the millions - get thi glasses on!

(its probably still complete shite - I agree)

Can't believe some of vile and nasty comments I have read. Yes I am a Collins fan and I don't give a **** what anybody says or thinks about it. Last season couldn't believe Clough would not play him when we were crying out for some one in that position. He may not be the most talented, but if he had scored the goal's he has done last season we may have been in a better position than 6th. You call yourselves fans, that's something a lot of you aren't. True fan's don't vilify there own players just because they aren't as good as you expect them to be. I felt for him last Sunday because the incident with their player was actually down to captain not so fantastic passing the ball back to him and pointing to send it back to George rather than him passing it forward . Anyway I will await your nasty comments but I will not respond. A Collins fan whilst ever he is a united player and he wears our shirt.

we stick straw in the turds and sell it as horse manure
theres always a way

in a word no, as we wouldnt even managed to pay someone to take him after sunday, he was coventry best attacker at times :)

but seriously because its very rare any teams outside of the prem/champ pay fees for players as league 1 & below is made released players, loans or "academy". so i think we would most like have to tear up his contract to be a free agent. same with freeman mceveley & coutts

By the way CJX, not related to footy, but I have met the man in your avatar, while I was working in the USA some years ago, along with Tim Sylvia and Matt Hughes, used to do a bit of MMA myself, a good few years ago.

I don't vilify players, but I do believe as a supporter and fan of the club for many years standing I have the right to pass judgement on their abilities - or lack of them !
I don't 'feel' for Collins, he is supposed to be a 'professional footballer' being paid to play for Sheffield United FC - he is just not good enough !
Clough saw it last year and whilst we don't know what happens behind closed doors I suspect from his 'on field' demeanour and attitude that he is probably one of the root causes of issues off the field !
At present we have too many players earning very good money who are simply Not Good Enough - Collins, McEverley and Woolford are prime examples !

Our centre back limitations, whatever the combination, were apparent last year NC didn't address them and neither has NA. He chose to address other areas mainly attacking players, that had limited success , that's being kind, now he has resorted to packing midfield and stifling opponents. Personally I expected more.

Let's take the elements of that in turn:

Can't believe some of vile and nasty comments I have read
I entirely agree. Opinions are fine, abuse isn't.

Last season couldn't believe Clough would not play him when we were crying out for some one in that position
Agree on that. The bollocks about Collins having a calf injury was pathetic.

He may not be the most talented, but if he had scored the goal's he has done last season we may have been in a better position than 6th
Not sure what you mean here: yes, Collins might have scored goals last season but equally he might have cost us some at the wrong end.

You call yourselves fans, that's something a lot of you aren't. True fan's don't vilify there own players just because they aren't as good as you expect them to be
I can't speak for anyone else but I don't vilify our players for not being as good as I expect them to be. What I expect from a Sheffield United player is that they will play at the limit of their ability and know their limitations. In my opinion, Collins does neither.

I felt for him last Sunday because the incident with their player was actually down to captain not so fantastic passing the ball back to him and pointing to send it back to George rather than him passing it forward
Right so that's one rick. What about passing it straight to their midfielder inside the area? Or punching the ball towards goal from 3 yards out?

A Collins fan whilst ever he is a united player and he wears our shirt.
Does Jay McEveley not get the same respect?

My opinion: we're going nowhere while Neill Collins is a first choice centre half. He's a bombscare with the ball as his feet, drops too deep to make up for a chronic lack of pace and will not take responsibility for his mistakes. I don't see how anyone could disagree with that so the only way to square the circle is to build the rest of the team to negate those weaknesses. We just can't be doing that.

Used to do a bit myself a few years ago mainly to stay fit but used to love it. Had to give up as my elbows and shins couldnt take anymore. Still miss it.

collins is a wage thief pure and simple will not move because i would be sure this will be the last contract he signs as a pro offered to mansfield last year and flat refused yet he talks about his love of playing as the wider public watched the game on sky work mates were laughing and telling me they thought i was winding them up how bad he was but he proved me right not a footballer makes my heart sink everytime he pulls on the shirt

Get where you're coming from but Collins is no angel. Happy to publically bollock young players for making mistakes.

You then say we shouldn't vilify our own players and refer to JM as captain not so fantastic???

I've said this before, but the arrival of Collins and ( the now missed genius ) Doyle were when we spotted our quality really slipping, in the first team, this of course bore fruit in our spectacular demise... Which sadly continues to this day...

But, and you knew this was coming... If we don't go up, I predict Adkins will offer him another years contract at the end of the season, Les face it, when he's been fit hasn't he started almost every game? ... In effect an almost ever present this season, yes, he is "not a footballer" and definitely the single worst footballer I have ever seen at centre half at any club, but we're so desperate, and skint, he will get an offer should we not go up, which also seems likely... Sad times ahead before the clouds finally clear, and they will, keep the faith ..UTB..

I know I've sort of contradicted myself a little, and Collins does chip in with the odd header that I've been seen celebrating, probs an OK bloke, just really really shit at defending..

You are a brave boy, and I for one agree with you.

Accepting that some of it must be 'tongue in cheek' (surely), I think the tirade of abuse he's attracted here is very sad indeed. Not so much for Collins himself (although no player should have to put up with this), but for those who think it's smart, funny or whatever else it is that gives rise to their bile.

He's seen better days yes, but he hasn't killed anybody and he deserves far more respect than this.

To be honest, it's verging on bullying and I've never had a stomach for that kind of shit.

At any club? I raise you a Nyron Nosworthy and a Jordan Stewart. Not just shite for us but for other clubs as well.

At least with Collins when he was a bit younger and had Maguire alongside him he did OK at times.

Agree (apart from the 'brave boy' bit. The avatar is a bit of a giveaway).

Don't agree with this abuse of our players, calling them cunts etc. Unless it's Curran of course.

They used to always throw me in with Andy Raynes, below, because I was the only bloke anywhere near his size (he used to compete in Britain's Strongest Man, every year, and made the early stages of World's Strongest Man), he was hard to move about and almost ripped out my elbow joints the first time we rolled!
