Interesting comments from mr Hammam on firstly the price of Cameron Jerome ( £4m-£5m but no less than £3.5m)not bad to say that when the transfer window opened it was £1m.If i was the chairman of Cardiff, i would be creating an auction for our star player considering they are £30m in debt, and well over budget.Interesting as well that the clubs he would sell to are Newcastle,Middlesboro,Spurs and Villa as these are the band of clubs in the prem with a bit of finance at their disposal. No one will be interested in him at the price that mr Hammam is quoting, because firstly it is a buyers market not a sellers market and the only players that go for big money are the really special ones like Rooney and possibly Theo Walcott. To put things in perspective Cameron Jerome is a good championship footballer who has had a good 1st 12 months in the professional game.No way is he the finished article and there is big question marks as to whether he will cut it in the premiership, and at the price quoted is too much of a gamble.Leroy Lita is also a current England under 21 international who was sold for £1m only 6 months ago,so mr Hammam WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD,and if i was going to pay £5m for a player,it would not be Jerome.Samual Eto'o cost that amount from Mallorca to Barcelona ,so like i said GET REAL.

Speculation suggests that the money men keeping a close eye on Cardiff City's growing debts feel that the £2million sale of Cameron Jerome is a necessary measure. Chairman Sam Hammam is adamant that the forward will not leave Ninian Park for a fee below an unrealistic £3.5million asking price.

CCFCSleepingGiant understands that City owner Sam Hammam could regret his recent comments regarding Cameron Jerome's future at the club.

The Lebanese supremo claimed that the Bluebirds would not sell the teenage sensation, capped at England Under-21 level, for a fee any less than £3.5million. However, it is now alleged that banks are putting pressure on Hammam to accept a £2million bid from fellow Championship outfit Sheffield United to ease the club's crippling debt, thought to be in excess of £30million.

Neil Warnock feels that City's valuation of Jerome is over the top, and is not prepared to offer any more than the £2million bid that was tabled from Brammal Lane.

"We felt £1.5m guaranteed plus £500,000 if we go up was more than enough. If they think they're going to get £3m plus for him then they're living in cloud cuckoo land." said a the furious Blades boss as he saw a second offer for the 19-year-old thrown back in his face.

"If they are doing this to create an auction then it's going to back-fire because we've moved on to other targets now ".

Interest in Jerome seems to have dried-up after the club slapped such a mammoth price tag on the player's head. Birmingham City, Sunderland and Charlton Athletic had all been rumoured to be planning a New Year raid of Ninian Park, but such a huge asking price means that Jerome looks set to stay at City for now, unless rumours are true regarding bank intervention.

Cardiff boss hints at Jerome sale
Cardiff City striker Cameron Jerome Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has revealed he is prepared to sell top scorer Cameron Jerome this summer.

Jerome, 19, has scored 20 goals this season and was the subject a £2m bid from Sheffield United in January.

"We might have to sell people to bring in more," Jones told BBC Sport when asked about Jerome's future at Cardiff.

"That's what we had to do last year. There were certain players we didn't want to let go, but to survive as a football club you've got to do that."

Everton manager David Moyes, who has made buying a striker a priority for next season, was at Ninian Park on Good Friday to watch Cardiff lose 1-0 to Sheffield United.

"He's got a special talent and we're tying to bring him into this football club"
Dave Jones on Jason Koumas

But he had a wasted journey if his sights were set on Jerome as the England Under-21 international was kept quiet by the Blades defence.

Moyes, though, could have been running the rule over one of Cardiff's other top performers this season - Jason Koumas.

The Wales midfielder is on loan at Cardiff from West Brom, but Jones said every effort will be made to sign him on a permanent contract.

"Jason's been very, very good for this football club," said Jones, who has taken Cardiff to the brink of the play-offs in his first season with the Bluebirds.

"He's one of the reasons we are where we are. But he needs the other ten players to play with him.

"He hasn't always been at his best, maybe that's why he's not in the Premiership. If he wants to get back to the Premiership he knows he has to do more.

"But he's got a special talent and we're tying to bring him into this football club."

He could still be sold but i doubt we will go back in for him.

Jerome Again

Sheffield Utd to trump Everton, Charlton for Jerome
tribalfootball.com - April 25, 2006

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is ready to trump his new Premiership rivals in landing Cardiff City striker Cameron Jerome.

The Blades boss failed with a 2.5m bid for the 19-year-old star in the January transfer window.

But now the Bluebirds have admitted defeat in their battle to keep Jerome.

They are now prepared to sell the 20-goal hotshot to cut debts as they attempt to move into a new stadium.

Everton, Charlton and Fulham have all watched Jerome but Premiership-bound Blades are the only ones to make a firm bid.

The ex-Middlesbrough trainee also came close to joining Norwich in January but now looks certain to complete a dream move to the top-flight.

Looks like we may go back in for him since cardiff maybe forced to sell.

I've got a mate who knows someone at Cardiff and they want rid of Jerome, he's shit apparently. The only thing he has is pace.

And as for Koumas, does nobody care that his best mate is Colombian marching powder? Apparently ;) :)

Koumas is a great player, but I don't like his attitude, the moment he's not in the first team for whatever reason, he'll throw a big childish tantrum.

if a manager can get the best out of koumas then he is a good player to have.

Jerome... Again

The Mail is reporting the Jerome saga again this morning.

They've written,

A "source" close to Cardiff striker Cameron Jerome claims that Birmingham have no chance of signing him as "there are at least six Premiership clubs interested".

I suppose that put's us ahead of Birmingham and West Brom, but behind the rest of the chasing pack. Neil's going to have to make that boy feel really at home when he comes to see us.

Hes from huddersfield which might lure him back up north. As he would like to be nearer home. Well that and the money we can offer him will lure him to us. Although i expect him to get lured away by another team.

why would either prefer to go to west brom i think west brom wil lstay down for a while now

Koumas is a West Brom player anyway and Robson has said he has a role for him....but only if he as grown up as a person.

Says a lot I'd say!

who cares sure warnock would sort that side of him out and we all know hes quality

I think you underestimate what trouble people can cause.

When you get so many ego's together it can be a huge problem that can ruin companies.

I'm afraid I have experience of such matters.

Yep, Steve's got the biggest ego of them all:D:D:D

Probably for the best rather than be fleeced for a player who has had one good season in the championship.

Completed, £3.5m to Birmingham.

He was good, but not that good!
