CONFIRMED Callum O'Hare - signs for Wrexham

Rothwell & Phillips/Jairo sat deep with Peck/Arblaster in the Number 8 role...

I am not very good in my knowledge of tactics and formations but in this formation couldn't O'Hare played in the 8 role. He is one of the few transitions we see from midfield to the forwards. Is he just too lightweight to play the same role but slightly deeper?

yeah if we play with 2 wide men we cant play 2 strikers we just dont get enough possesion in midfield

I think we saw the last of two strikers on Saturday... It doesn't work. We get mauled in midfield with only two in there.

He is very lightweight and pretty slow over large distances.

Hope so. The areas that give me concern are Tanganga's defensive partner (despite McG's early season form), someone else on the left wing to compete with BBD (Ryan One?) and another striker option if Bamford is off the boil.

I like him, I think he has been a bright spark over the past couple of seasons that have been in short supply. Like you said, if we can't get him to fit into the tactics, no point in keeping him and so might as well get good money for him. Just why we are deciding our tactics on the last day of the transfer window is beyond me.

Playing same 4-5-1 as we have played for most of past 2 seasons with O'hare behind Bamford/Campbell seemed like the natural journey when Hamer left and we could have brought it a Left midfield and balanced the side out.

In theory yes, but his returns aren't worthy of building a side around him. If you compare him to others who we have played in that role - McGoldrick, MGW, Ndiaye - you see his output is no where near Thier level. He doesn't dominate games. If you play with a 'No 10' you really need them to be running the show and he's not good enough to do that.

In isolation this is actually a great move, it's just when it's added to Hamer and Brooks (which again in isolation made sense) it's a tricky narrative to get behind.

It’s been left to the guy who picks the teaM to basically take care of the entire shortfall with little desire to help (pay) or own the prior mistakes from above.

The fact they don’t even address the fans makes them the most cowardly owners we’ve ever had.

They’ve literally not lifted a finger to help the manager and playing staff all summer. Any wages probably taken care of by those departing and any bid being considered seems merely a delay to being accepted.

The fact they entered an agreement with the Prince and have seemingly reneged on it is disgusting. They’ve should both. E struck off, banned from football and forced to sell.

It’s absolutely appalling the disdain they have treated the fans with.

Is any of that backed up with any tangible facts? Do you have insider info maybe? Or are you just angry and lashing out?

The football we are playing has O’Hare as the key ingredient so if you remove him then surely we have to play a different way. Him, like brooks and hamer, had flaws and I’d rather cash in personally. He doesn't fit with how we're going to play this season so getting as much as we can is the best option here.

For those hard of thinking, we've been stocking up on midfielders of a certain profile (total opposite of COH) for an obvious reason.

Losing COH before he leaves on a free is good business if he doesn't fit with how we're going to play.

It is more a pattern emerging of selling the best players and not replacing them with any future salable asset. This kind of thinking is short term and bad for business in the long run. All while owing the former owner for the purchase of the club... I'd argue you'd have to be pretty hard of thinking to view this in any positive light.

I also think we've made a rod for our own backs with the sale negotiation. From what you read Wrexham's first offer was half of their final....we've probably said we want £7m to put them off and they've gone 'ok' & now we've not got a replacement. Crazy.

I presume COH is on big ish money based on him signing for us on a free & we competed against a few at the time.
